I started to RECLAIM some space in the shop. When we bought the farm the guy worked on Simi Truck tires for a living. He had one wall of HUGE tire metal racks and a smaller one on another wall. I am going to start using the rack. SOOOOOO I had to kick all my sons car junk to the curb LOL. We did get it cleared off and some of the extra rails removed. I am going to make it longer since I don't need it 10 feet tall. I am going to make at least 12 single pens to put on the racks and 2 or 4 that are double size for the bantams to have pens (silkies and Silver Penciled Wyandottes).

Since I acquired 2 new silkie pullets, 2 UNEXPECTED roos yesterday and then the other 2 more roos that I knew about.... that is 5 pens PLUS I am in DIRE need to swap out some roos to try to improve fertility so this is GOING TO BE HUGE!

Now to start culling extra roos again and call the roo guy.

My poor roos have pretty bad frost bite...... I feel so bad for them.....They are hearty little guys!

Donna, this is our first winter with Roosters...we had no indication of frost bite until 2 days after the cold. Can the combs totally recover. They have like a spot here and there..a couple on the points and one guy got the back of his comb. No one got it bad enough for their combs to fall over..just a little discoloration and now there is some scabbing. We put Vaseline on their combs during the cold and have been putting an antibiotic on them since.
