The Middle Tennessee Thread

So you may become Bev ' s neighbor! It's so beautiful there! Hope it works out. I have some of her Barnevelders. Haven't talked to her since the holidays. She can be hard to catch....always flying off somewhere! !

I have Barnevelders, Double Laced Blues and Splashes and also Black Copper Marans. Lots and lots of babies right now….wow, brooder house is bursting at the seams. Cream Legbars too
I'm up in Portland but I travel down to the Nashville airport a lot and can meet anyone interested

Hi Bev!! The girls are braving the cold well! Even while molting. They have me completely trained! They are spoiled rotten! I'd love to see a picture of the splash rooster mature. Enjoy Munich!! We need to catch up when you get back!

So thought we was going to have a short warm snap? It snowed again........

I saw that on the news last night that you would get more snow..... nothing here. Going to be 45 today so MAYBE it will melt off quick.... but going to be in the teens again tonight. 50+ tomorrow...... then the bottom falls out again on Monday.

I might get that BR roo today! And sell some chickens..... I need to do that to but feed next week.

I hope everyone is doing well. I am so over this garbage weather! I'm also over boiling water twice a day to get the ice out of the water bowls. My poor birds barely leave the coop in this crap and they are eating sooooo much!! I've been bringing them extra treats because I feel so bad that I can't bring them indoors. I've stuffed their coops with fresh straw and wrapped them in tarps. I've also made little ghetto doggy doors for the coops that the smarter girls have figured out. My evil RIR is snuggling up with the other birds, though, so at least something good came out of this!!

Also, just in case anyone is interested....I have a few kittens that I'm fostering for Nashville Cat Rescue. They'll be 10 weeks old on Tuesday and are super cute. They were spayed/neutered on Monday and have all of their shots except for rabies. They're indoor cats and the adoption fee is $100 each or 2 for $150. And......I adopted a couple Cornish Rex cats from a breeder (I think more of a "mill" situation, honestly) and when I took them in to get fixed, the vet said to hold off on the female because she may be pregnant. That was a few weeks ago and she's only gotten bigger. They should be here within the next few weeks and will be ready for adoption by May or so. These also are strictly indoor cats since they don't have much hair. I have homes already for two but I figured I'd put it out there.

Is anyone from Maryville Tennessee here?
Im going to Stop N Go trailer dealer on February 1st to pick up my brand new miniature horse trailer. Im coming from Michigan and was wondering if there is any quality cochin bantam or silkie breeders from there? It would be awesome to get some hatching eggs while there to bring back.
Please pm me and let me know if ya live right there. Thanks!

No snow here but I am further south. :) Looking forward to some sun today. My 9mo border collie has been going stir crazy locked up in the house and I am getting a little tired of throwing his ball.

I don't have electricity to the girls' coop. I prefer not to mix heating elements with straw. So I started using the waterers that attach to mason jars. I've had good success with them thus far. I have 16 hens and 3 quart waterers. I empty them at night and refill them each morning.

This whole winter is wacky! It will be almost 60 here tomorrow but starting Monday night thru Tuesday it's not getting out of the teens. With single digit lows. I've had it.
