I have 18 White Bearded Silkie Chicks hatched this week end $4 ea.
All I need to do is go into the coop shaking the container with the worms or some kind of treat in it (they learned early to respond to the shaking of the container) and they come running. Usually the come in whenever they please at dusk but this usually works if I need them in sooner and then I just close the door while they are attacking the treats.Bribe them with something yummy?
That is a cute coop!!
New coop and run. Obviously neither is completely finished. Thought I would take the chickies out to the run to check it out and let them get a little sunshine. Except for the gate the first 2 feet is fenced. They have been out side in a small enclosure before but nothing like this.
So, they are climbing over each other to stay in the box.
Finally I took the box away and they were scared to death. Well, mostly just 4-5 were scared to death. They others took it in stride after a bit. I had not realized there would be no shade in the run at this time of day. There will be later when the hedge apple trees get their leaves. We limited our visit to about 15 min. I had worried about how I was going to round them back in after I got them into the open space. All I needed to do was put the box out and they ran to it.![]()
