Lori-Just in time I have someone coming out Sat to buy every bird I have left for sale..If anyone needs a little cash and can get to me before that I'm sending him a list tomorrow of what is here.
Would you like some older ladies-he's not taking those they are laying still but missing most back feathers..darn roo and they can get saddles off somehow..or we have some last fall that are laying or will be soon then some hatched on T'Giving week All of them were wormed with Ivermectin yesterday so worm free bug free
Are you going to Dalton? I'm thinking about going down..if only I knew someone would have a few of what I need.

Sounds like a plan. I'll need feed by then too. Want me to just pick out one of my leghornX hens? or do you a preference? Less spots, more spots, etc etc etc....LOL.

More spots if possible, and whichever one you think is the one that is the better broody.

HB,

I don't mind them being a little older or a little ragged. Who am I to point fingers? LOL! Are they under 3 years old?

I won't be going to Dalton -- surprise birthday party for the DH SSSSSSSHHHHH!! -- but will be going to Newnan.

Lori

edited because my mind thinks faster than I type...miracles abound.

They are not even 2 but bare backed..hoping when they finish molting it will come back in they live with young roos and you know how those teens are

..Very good health survived the heat and the cold so far without problems.
I'm free most days other than Mondays and Thursday or could hold onto them until we do the March meet..I have the space

The March meet will work for me. I can make the saddles if needed but I have a very gentle roo so hopefully between that and feathering out they will be okay.

The Barbara thread has me "needing" a barred rock. LOL

Edited to add: I can paypal you Monday if you would like and could you send me a pic of my new girls.

I'm glad you are taking my RIR/Cochin girl. She is very docile and one of my roosters has targetted her. He is going into solitary confinement anyways, but I feel sorry for her.

I will pick you out a good broody. I'll have to look through my old broody pics and compare spots. I think the best broody of them all is the one least spotted. But not positive.....

Holly, whatcha cookin' up over there?? Getting rid of lots of birds . . . are you not going to be selling any more eating eggs? What's your pen setup going to be?

CityGirl, you still out there, or are you away in Italy? (I guess no reply will mean Italy, LOL!)

Isn't Newnan show in Feb and Dalton in March? I think the Dalton one is a double show . . .

Well,I'm thinking about not selling all of my excess to that one person..another month and people will be out here like flies wanting some already laying and I really don't have that many roodles where I could unload them for money
big_smile.png

I'm keeping 35 just layers for the eating eggs that will keep all of those customers fed as well as ours.Really, after that if they don't sell they are wasted so it will give more room to the breeder birds. I'm going to be stuck with the 8 pens I have already. My new house will be fully insulated and heated half will be rows and rows of brooder boxes and the other half will be all the chicks with a huge outside play pen. I'm trying to find a few small coops or bunny cages with a bottom play pen for a few bantams that don't need the big pens so if anyone sees any rather cheap let me know
big_smile.png
that will free up the pens the bantams are in now
Of coarse some are staying no matter what..they are family
I'm re-doing my Blue Rocks since I'm still getting the dark shanks...there will be some Barred Rocks here shortly from National Champion stock..they look painted those lines are so even.I'm going to use them to better my blue and will have some perrty barred rocks as well..but they don't lay like the ol pro's I have now I'm sure.Of coarse I have to start with baby chicks so that will be more next year..
emmalynn-I'm keeping a few of the old ladies..kids begging me with puppy eyes had something to do with that I'm sure.I do have several real nice will be 4 months by the time of the meet
Oh breaking news here my Lavender Orpington's are finally getting here Tomorrow morning...you know in the SNOW storm I don't care they are coming and my wonderful husband offered to go get them for me.

Well...I get to go collect money today..anyone want to give me some

Hi All!!
m
Holly - you'll have to post a picture of your new coop house - it sounds wonderful!!!

I am on day #10 of the EE incubation ... I am starting to mellow out a little and now only checking temp/humidity about 5 times a day. Unless the hygrometer is broke it's staying steady reading 100F and 53% humidity. I am not opening the bator at all.

I built a nice BIG brooder box for these new chicks but now I'm thinking about re-purposing it for the Giant bunny I am going to buy on Saturday. Then just building another brooder for these EE chickys.

Does anyone have links to their brooder cage pictures they can send me , for ideas?? For the first week or two I am keeping them in a rubbermaid container in the livingroom .. but once they get to big for that I want to put them in a bigger cage (while they are still to young for the outside coop).

After these chicks hatch I'm torn between getting fertile eggs of some nice Silkies or Polish - I have no familiarity with either breed. Does anyone have helpful hints on which are easier to hatch, keep, breed, ect. Personally I really love the looks of the crested Polish , top hats. I just want a FUN looking breed to stare at and entertain me *smile* (my other chicks are for eggs).
