My daughters dog just got out and really wounded my Splash Maran….there is only a little blood but all the feathers on one side are gone and the skin is exposed. What can I do? Is there something I can put on it, or go to the vet for something……as long as I've been on here I've never had a problem like this and I don't know what to do.

How is the chicken doing? I would be more worried about internal injuries. The missing feathers will grow back.... might have to put bluekote or something on them to the keep the other girls from picking on her.

She's acting ok….let out a squeak when I reached for her but after I picked her up she was ok with it and let me examine her. There are more white feathers all over than I thought possible. Only found a small amount of blood and it was on a feather otherwise just bare skin.

**** dog killed my precious Dominique, Oprah….she was the one that ate blueberries from Hudson, and she waited at the gate of the deck every night for me to pick her up and take her to the coop….if I was sitting outside she always jumped up in my lap and just loved to be petted. She was the one all the neighbors brought the kids over to see because she just loved it….I am going to miss her like crazy, can't stop crying.
Dog is gone first thing in the morning.

Where can I get bluekote?

Usually the coop or TSC should have it. I have used some antipick too it will color the area so they can't see the skin.

I am so sorry..... I have been there with the dog attach thing. They will not quit once they figure out they can PLAY and EAT them.

So we lost 2 young pullets to an opossum the first night out in their temporary coop. I have been setting traps since and have caught 4 juvenile opossums so far, one of which is most likely the perpetrator that squeezed under the run wall in a low spot. My questions are, how many opossums are usually in a litter and what bait is best? I have been rotating baits to try to tempt ma and pa'ussum : eggshell (1), marshmallow (1), wet cat food (0), and dog food (2) but have been unsuccessful at snagging the big ones.

When I was trapping with my great uncle, he would get cracklings at the store then almost burn them to use as bait..... It worked on raccoons and opossums both as well as fox and coyote. He would scatter a few around the trap then inside the trap.
