The Middle Tennessee Thread

An update to the Australorps that we got at the end of Feb. Looks like we truly did luck out with only 1 roo and 5 girls.

Here they are free ranging this past weekend.

He's gotten his crow perfected, luckily the trees/brush between the coop and our house dull it out in the mornings (I'm sure the neighbors appreciate that).

That was pretty lucky...he is handsome!

Hey all Tennessee peeps, If anyone is interested I'm selling my India Blue Peafowl EGGS. I've got a posting in the classified thread. I'm in Portland TN so give me a shout if interested.

Put 18 Bielefelder eggs in the incubator this afternoon going to see if my Rooster is earning his feed. My wife would only let me save 18 she refuses to buy eggs in the store. She said people feeding chickens shouldn't have to buy eggs. Love that girl.

I hatched a pair this week! I have 2 pullets from another hatch. One of my girls seems to avoid the cockerel. I took the nest box out since I think she is hiding in there to avoid him LOL.

I'm sort of the same way. I always make sure I have at least a few hens in general population for eating eggs. Makes me mad if i have to buy store eggs when I have chickens.

I know some people on here were looking for peachicks or peafowl eggs earlier this year. I have 4 chicks for sale (India Blue or India Blue split to purple) 1 and 2 weeks old, straight run for $35 each. Several more are due to hatch this week. Also offering eggs from this pen (an India Blue male, an India Blue hen and a Purple hen). $10 per egg- no guarantee of fertility or hatchibility but I have had a great hatch rate with these birds!
