Holly- I can't take the kitten unless I get a new job. If I do get a new job she can be my reward for being employed again.

I will, of course, constantly need pictures of the cute kitty.

My kitties go play up in the partially finished attic. I think that's where he got bitten. I'm hoping if I spray up there it will take care of the problem. His side is shaved right now and he looks pitiful in his nekkidness.
tongue.png
He seems to feel fine though. He was more indignant about the car ride than the vet visit.

You can always tell him that we will promote the local Co-op with a meet?!

Bring in a little business, showcase some products, etc, etc

Tracyree - I don't have silkies but I do keep my bantam cochins together with the Orpingtons and Australorps. Saw one bantam glare down an australorp who was easily twice her size. No picking on her. LOL But then again all I have are hens, no roosters.

Okay - speaking of roosters. A friend of my MIL is looking for a show quality Buff Orpington Rooster, maybe a year old. Anyone know where I can steer him??

Citygirl - Sorry about your cat but glad he's on the mend. My poor sammiecat had a drain on his back leg and was more indignant about the cone of shame than anything else.

We are coneless at the moment. The site is draining a little bit and kind of ooking me out, but he is ignoring it so far. He's currently curled up at my feet contemplating my bare toes. This might not end well.

Along those same lines, I saw a tshirt in the Jeffers catalog that said "It's all fun and games until someone has to wear a cone".

Thanks all. I see no one paid a bit of attention to the last line of my post "no room for more". :p. You enablers!!! How am I to stay strong and keep from getting drown in chicken poo if you all don't have my back and keep me from overloading my coop??

Although..... More hens would be good in the winter for keeping each other warm..... It's almost neglectful to have so few....

Ha!!

City girl- good luck on Monday, I hope the co-op is receptive to your idea and you land a great job. And your poor niece!! How old is she? My 6 year old had his out 3 weeks ago and it was rough. He did great for the first week, but then the scabs start falling off and the pain gets worse... The ear aches were the worst part for him. He never really complained about his throat, but his poor ears drove him nuts. For us it's been well worth it though. He's already feeling much better and will be better in the long run.

Ahh your right...we all read it we just didn't pay any attention to it...some could say Silkies are not really chickens so they don't count...bantams are small so it's like half a chicken....chickens like company so more the merrier, and honestly in the winter I like to crowd my pens a bit more for warmth since they have the doors open to go play in the snow
If I wasn't so tired I could come up with even more reasons why your coop isn't too small
lol.png

The last 2 ee that hatched are white or buff not sure which yet and black with 2 more eggs to go...not hatching any more until late winter...come on you know you need a few
big_smile.png
they are real small don't take up much space at all.

HB- were you hatching those for yourself? I wouldn't want to deprive you of them. White or buff ee's sound very cute

.

Edited to add- I like all those justifications and look forward to hearing more when you re well rested. Ha!

Morning all! I haven't been gabbing much here lately, but it sure is fun reading up on what you're all doing! Hope the morning finds you all well - - and COOL.

Uncle Matlock, congratulations! What a sweet baby. How I love little nieces!

I have a whole batch of 'em myself.

Tracyree, sounds like your chicken journey is taking its own path . . . just like the rest of ours have! Not to worry, you will learn so many fun things about all the chicken breeds, and have so many interesting adventures, it will be well worth it. My own experience has been to buy local from other BYCers for the best birds - - and to find good chicken buddies!

Holly, HELLO! Hope you're doing well, and that the heat isn't too bad over there.

CityGirl, sorry to hear about your cat. Hope the naughty bugger is on the mend. And yes, I just know that kitty was doing something he wasn't supposed to when he got bit.
Remember what I wrote you awhile back re. the job . . . your path will take you exactly where you should be. NO FEAR! [insert fierce lady-Viking smiley here]

SimplySplendid, way to go with the chick-save for Tracyree! . . . or should we just call you Candyman, our local chicken crack dealer, LOL!!

OklaDD, I saw you on here a few pages back. Hope you're doing well and enjoying all your hatched chicks this summer!

And to all of you, hope you have a great weekend! Hope you keep you and yours nice and COOL - - -
