- one male and two female black ameraucanas (8ish weeks old or so)
- one black male ameraucana, one mottled female olive egger and one black female ameraucana (8-12 weeks old)

I'm working on pictures right now. PM me if you are interested and I'll send you pictures.

Not for sale, but awfully cute anyway.

This is the little buff silkie that popped out yesterday.

Not so cute as they have hit the mangy phase, but still awfully sweet-
The wheaten marans and lone mutt frizzle. The wheatens seem awfully dark compared to the other chick I hatched out. We'll see what they end up looking like.

And finally, Elvis has left the coop! This is that little buff silkie x blue sumatra mutt. Cute, no?

CityGirl-the neat thing about Wheaten is how young you can sex them...2 completely different colors

they are still cute even in that mangy state

Okay, so some are black and others are brown. The only one with a comb looks like this-

It has both colors. What do we think about the other? None of them have combs.

The one I hatched out from a different breeder looks like this-

This is the one with the gimpy leg.

Which color is male and which is female?

the one you hatched from the other breeder-last pic is a pullet the first pic is a rooster. You can tell early since the boys feather dark and as soon as the first chest feathers come in you know for sure..some pullets could have too much dark in a wing feather.Wheaten pullets always have the creamy chest. The roos black or blue depending on if it's wheaten or blue wheaten.
The middle pic the one with the black crossing the shoulders...you can add that to the rooster collection the others are dark but could be dark pullets..lets hope for awhile longer.

Morning all! What a lovely, lovely morning it is here. We had around 60 in the pens when I went to the coops this morning. Ahhhhh . . .

Raven1, I am sorry to hear about your young birds. What a crummy thing to find. Hope you still have enough birds to work with on your breeding projects. (But still, I know it is a heartbreaking loss.

OklaDD, here's a shout out to you! Hope all is well up your way, and that you are knee-deep in chicks and all sorts of projects.

CityGirl, I like the wheaten pics. Hope you will keep posting more as they grow. I always liked that color.

Holly, hope you are enjoying the break from the heat over your way!

Enjoy the day, everyone!
