Donna, you are so funny. ONLY 40+ eggs!!! My kids already tease me about being a chicken hoarder because I have 25 now (7 grown chickens, eight 4 & 7 week old chicks and now 10 new chicks)

They don't understand that chicks don't count in chicken math.

I'd like some of your EE eggs - the chicks sounds beautiful. But I'll wait till the first of the year. I need to get the chicken barn ready for the ones I already have.

Chicken math
26 2 week olds
15 days old
20 laying pens
15 other non laying side
10 3month old pullets
1 leghorn roo on hold
5 buff orphs on hold
40+ eggs

5 of those above roos and one hen GOING any time, dinner prob. A couple of pullets maybe with one roo

That is still over 100

This may be my limit except what I sell as chicks in the spring.

My chicken math this weekend
Sold the lavender and black Orpington flock so 7 big one's gone
sold the blue copper Marans pullet to Connie this afternoon
Feed store math-they are going to have a bad week

I can count my chickens no problem lately which is super...now I have more than enough space to grow up what I want without any worries of over crowding with the cold coming soon...and a place to put the new ones I bring back from Indy in a few weeks

I have two that are chipmunk color, one from a white egg that is still yellow but she has a few black feathers. a couple that are really light light blue, some black. If you take out the NH and pord reds 80% that is left is either blue or black, but that could change I guess....

Here is a pic without the reds

6 of those came from my rocks so they are blue and black. A couple hatched from my EE as a test, but the rest are yours.

I asked on another thread, but can I, at some point, add my new babies in with the 2 week olds? Is that too big a dif or would it even make a dif at say 1, 1 1/2 months? Maybe when the little ones don't need so much heat? And one more will I be able to move these babies outside IF I provide heat in the run and coop at night?

oh yeah they will change colors...GOSH I love EE's like a box of chocolates

eventually you will be able to merge the two when they are about the same size....at 4 weeks they should be feathered out to go outside....I have a smaller grow out pen for when they are small 4weeks then when they outgrow it they move up till about 16weeks I merge them with the hens.....

Thanks that helps tons! Even in this weather it is ok to move them outside? I don't know if my breeding pens will be done that quick but I can move them out during the day to get used to the temps. Once the breeding pens are done I can have two grow out pens for younger and older ones then to the flock they will go!
