Fingers crossed that all goes well!!! We are certainly very excited.....

Also, when we come back from Crossroads, we would love to host a small burgers and hotdogs cookout for our Feather family...I live right off of HWY 25 between Hartsville and Carthage....You guys can do a chicken swap here if you wanted to also........

That is really nice,"Jess" Cookout and Swap Meet......I am wishing you all of the luck with the NPIP!!! Keep me posted....like I said we are hoping to do this very soon....Kandi

She did all of the testing for our 4-H show last week, and is a very sweet, pleasant person.... She is just CRAZY busy, so it takes awhile to track her down for an appointment....
As I understand it, she will come out and test all of our birds (since we have less then 25) for Pullorum and also she will swab them for AI and send it out free of charge. Assuming that the Pullorum is ok, which we find out that day, she writes up paperwork that we send in with a check for $25.00 to get our official certification card....
Does that sound about right Holly??

That sounds right..you shouldn't have any problems getting it all done. The paper is as good as the card until it comes if you do anything that requires NPIP
A cook out and chickens..that sounds like fun but chances are high that I will be busy with Scouts and it's not even cookie season until Dec! This weekend I'm working at Oktoberfest Next weekend a huge Scout camping event and then a quick trip to Crossroads and the Rabbit Convention November is looking just as crazy. My weekdays....beyond crazy all the time.Last week we had a week off and I really realized just how crazy busy life is.

Jess that would be GREAT!!! I did my NPIP a couple months ago, I called and the woman came out that day it was freaking awesome she was out of Manchester and it was the weekend before the Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville so I lucked out!! I gave her the check for $25.00 and she did the rest...now although I did not ever count prior too so we did like 45 chickens those were the ones older than 4mos.....she doesn't check those under 4mos...but yeah everything went well!!

I am loving this FALL weather I finally decorated for Halloween today

not like I get any trick or treaters. I have to take 5 yr old DD closer to town just to trick or treat...oh I am making some Lasangna for dinner YUM! Even Pumpkin Pie (my fav), Lemon Meringue Pie (DH fav) for dessert in a baking mood i guess....

I took DD 5yr old to Disney on Ice sunday wow she was in complete AWE

I had fun just watching her!!! Now she is my drama queen which makes it all the better. She thought the princesses were waving only at her LOL....it's gonna make the trip to disney world in a couple months all the better!!

I too amazed that you didn't know about this chatty group over here, Dixieland! Middle TN has the BEST chicken people!
Good luck with your NPIP. I had a guy come out. He was really fast. The slowest part was catching the little boogers. I caught and held while he did the pricking. I ended up covered in mud, poop and blood while skippy in the coveralls was clean.

Thanks for the meet up invite. That sounds awesome!!

1newegg- CUTENESS!!! Love the babies. They are adorable.

I'm covered up with little buff babies at the moment with another 10 eggs under broody hens. I thought we were done for the year and two of them went broody this week. Eh. Have some eggs.

Holly- sign me up for some cookies. You can just go ahead and put me on the list. I've been hoarding the last box of Thin Mints in the freezer. I'll break them out in November for my birthday. Yum! Have you been running ads galore on Craigslist? I keep seeing chickens in Lebanon. I always assume that's you.

Emmalynn- Do you still want roosters for dinner? I am happy to donate those to the cause. I always have a ton of them and never know what to do with them all. I would rather someone be able to feed their family with them than they go to some crazy person who might do weird things with them.

I have a couple of young wheaten marans if you would like them. They still need some growing, but they should be tasty.

My world is going okay. I started the new job on Monday and it is going well. The drive to Nashville is a pain, but the folks in the new office are all really nice. Yay for that! They all want eggs too, so maybe I'll finally have a market for eating eggs. It'd be nice to help cover the costs of feed!

I am almost down to winter flock size. I still have those two banty cockerels and a couple of wheaten maran pullets, but that's about it. I've been cleaning out coops and trying to get things ready for winter. I am LOVING the fall weather!
