I got these from Critter Lover over in easterh part of the state. As far as we know these are the only Icelandics in Tennessee! Can't wait till spring to start hatching these out!

Also got a pair of very nice dwarf rabbits. Here is the doe.

The buck is solid black. Anyone else raise dwarfs. I know I have seen them on craigslist down around Murffeesboro, wasn't for sure if that was BYC people or not.

Yes I think he will be too. I thought his color was a dirty splash but on closer look its a "dirty" splash!lol. He will be nice when he moults in new feathers. I also had another roo who was georgeous but he jumped the fence when I was unloading the new ons and has disapperaed! I have located a back up in Okla ,I'll pick him up on my next trip home.

Gorgous gorgous birds! How old are they? They big chickens? And the doe is precious. I saw a blue rabbit. With a hint of gray sprinkled all over his body. Looked so cool.

Yes they are about the size of brown leghorns. They are all just last years birds.
The mottled hen hatched three phoniex! Little brown chipmunks. Let me know when you get rid of the extra chicks I may take them.

Hey y'all! I need some help from the experienced folks out there!

Chicky #2:

Went out to check on mama and babies to find them on the ground. My nesting area is approximately 3.5 ft above the ground and I was actually planning on building a different type ladder so the chicks could get down when it was time. So, my first question is, how did they get down? Did mama actually bring them down? Or did they topple out? I don't see how they could topple out because the frame is about 4-5" tall.

Well, I grabbed the little chicks and put them in a hen house closer to the ground and then put mama in. She seemed happy enough. But of course when the other hens and roos heard my voice they all came running because this was the time I check for new eggs, change out the water and refresh food dishes. I turned my back literally for a second and Rocky ran into the hen house and tried to mate with Sunshine. I yanked him out of there because mama was fighting and babies were getting stepped on. This all happened in a matter of a few minutes but seemed like quite a while. Anyway, all is well, and I've closed the coop so mama and babies can do what they want without "threat".

My next question is, should I put the three of them back in the original nest? There are still several eggs in there. Should I move the eggs to where I put mama and babies? Is she abandoning the nest to care for the two babies?

Any guidance is GREATLY WELCOMED!

If none of the other eggs are pipped then she is proably thru. What happened is she decided it was time to leave the nest and jumped down and the little ones followed her. They bounce pretty good!lol! I would put her in a place where the chicks are safe from the main herd for a few days. As cold as it is she needs to be inside a building to keep drafts away. I had one hatch yesterday,I put her in a cage in the shed and put a drop light in with them. The chicks have been "sunning" under the light all day!If you think there is a chance more eggs will hatch then you can put her back on the nest tonight. But be aware she will bail out again in the morning.
