I sold them for $5 each to a kid who is going to breed them - he has a bunch of rabbits, too. His grandfather drove him to pick them up.

Good for you! I hope I can do that with these Marans, I have three that need to go NOW! We are going to call our neighbor and see if his wife is wanting some big roos for dinner soon....

Congrats on Ethan's wins! I am glad I did not drag out my birds to go to the show now after hearing it most likely would not have been worth my trouble. I think Sparta will have more competition. At least with the silkies.
Robin how did you do? What did you show? I know Judy Lee took Best AOV with Patti Pie and Reserve AOV with another paint.

I spent yesterday wrapping the runs and hanging out with the chickens. I ended up using a trap on one side and some heavy duty plastic on the other. I like to leave one side open for the sunshine.

Tracy I hope you got that plastic on your runs.

I hope everyone has a great day. I heard yesterday the rain may hold off till later tonight.

Well it was a great day for my kids. Alex got 1st and BV with both of his OEGB pullets. Emma took 1, BV, BB, Champion Featherleg, Best Jr Bantam, and then Grand Champion Junior Bird with her buff silkie pullet. Brought home a huge trophy, blue ribbon, prize money and we ended up with a free rabbit- Lilac mini rex jr buck.
**Holly what is it with you rabbit people....left my sister for 5 min and then we have a rabbit***
Met Robin again, had a great conversation w/ Marty McGuire who helped in the judging when it got down to Emma's silkie and Mr Lemonis OEGB hen. He also gave Emma a brillant pair of blues. We talked about Bren winning the ASBC election. The direction that the club will be taking, etc.
Spent quite a bit of time talking to Bob and Lucy (OEGB people- boy did they win in the open). Bought another OEGB pullet for Alex. Alex may be showing in the open show versus the junior show with his pullets in Sparta. Several of the OEGB breeders were very encouraging for him to try. They also suggested that he may split his birds between Junior and Open at the next show.
For those that didn't make it or chose not to go...wished you could have been there.
Emma was encouraged to consider showing open as well. Maybe with the older blue from Marty? who knows?

She deserved to win, that bird was outstanding. Make sure you get copies of that pic sent to you by everyone that took one with her bird and trophy. That danged trophy was nearly as big as she was.

Tish, I have no clue. I have decided that I really hate showing. I will do like I've done for all the years I've had birds and go as a spectator. Other than rooting for Emma and her win I had no clue until this morning what all went on. I just really, really enjoyed meeting the group. Tell Judy I'm going to bop her one for slipping out. I thoroughly enjoyed finally getting to meet her. Shoot, the only one I knew personally was Jaynie but Judy and I got a chance to sit and talk. I did know that Patty Pie beat Patty Cake the rest is a blur.

Pics of my new whites that I had to get considering I got the white Showgirls from Sheryl. That is in only way I would have ever taken on white silkies. Just a bonus getting to talk crap to Jack again.
