The Middle Tennessee Thread

Robin in the beginning I had to drag (kicking and screaming) Judy to the shows with me she hated them. So either the shows or I grew on her. Either way she goes now and she and I usually have a blast. About a week out I start sending her text talking crap cause you know she competes in the AOV against my Showgirls. So I start sending pics via text talking crap saying things like " You probably shouldn't bother dragging the Patties out. This is your best AOV." She is one of my best friends and we have fun cutting up together. I would most likely not like showing as much if I did not get to see some of my best friends at the shows. Every show the birds get judged differently that is what bothers me. I would like some consistency. Oh and to just once beat Creego's black silkies. Man she is hard to beat.
I will let Judy know you would have liked to have said bye. I hope to run into you one of these days. Good luck on whatever you decide. I will agree showing does add on some stress but if I did not show I would seriously miss out on the pre-heckling I dish out. Already giving Jack crap about Sparta. I am even threatening Doyle to enter a White Leghorn although I don't so much as know their standard.

Rain the rest of the week guys try and stay dry!

Hey, Tish! I may have a baby showgirl for you. A friend hatched it out of some eggs one of his serama friends sent him. I can't remember the guy's name, but he apparently is a big deal breeder and he imported some of his line from a dutch line. Dunno. I'll get more info for you. My friend has decided he doesn't want to deal with anything outside of the seramas and he is giving me two paint silkies and the showgirl. I'm not really a showgirl kind of girl myself, but thought you might be interested. As soon as I get pedigree and get the chick I'll send you pictures. If you don't want her I bet someone else on here will.

. They tried to send him home with me but it didn't work.See,the problem with rabbits is they cuddle real well and don't make noise.
I stuck my head in for a minute with the chickens and didn't bring any home but did end up with 2 more rabbits than I started with...now if your mini Rex needs a friend I know where there are a few :lo

My son was telling me how annoying my roos were, so I sent that video to him a while back and threatened to get some, he has not complained since

Carol, send that boy my way! I have decided to put my little roos on craigslist before they get to big and kill each other

I just want the room and not the roos. I will keep and olive egger, white EE that was a cross with a California Gray, a Black lav split EE and a NH, but all the others are up for grabs.

I have barred Sex Link EEs 2 or 3, BSL, a couple of NH (less a few tail feathers

) some Blue Rocks and I think one SL Blue Barred Rock. I think that is it.... 8-10 roos that need to go. I have some younger Prod Red roos too. I really need to play with those chicks, I can't even remember what is in the pen.

Congrats on all the wins. forgot I let the phoenix bantams out to play yesterday evening before sun went down.. so They was out and about this morning, They seemed fine and LFs didnt notice the difference. They went right back to the coop when I came with the feed bucket. Lol

Friend brought me what was soposed to be a silver duckwing PHOENIX bantam hen, instead it was an Old English bantam, shes cute as a button, but I am not that interested in them, I do have 3 black mottled O.E. I hatched them about 2 months ago. Does anyone need a hen? She is laying.

Deciding to switch out to wyandottes, and have a few exceptions( my favs). My little Leghorn/marans chick I hatched out of a friends batch of eggs had gotten out of the brooder, she was perched on a box on the otherside of the room. Crazy chick, dunno how she got out.

Thanks for all the congratulations. I passed it on to the kids. Beaming smiles on a Monday- WOO HOO!

I can see how rabbits can be addicting. It appears we are going to be learning the ins and outs of a house rabbit. Thus we don't need more than one. I tell myself that but I see hard times in the future saying no.

Looking forward to the Sparta show. Emma is showing again with more than just the pullet and Alex is going to give it a go again. I keep telling them that disappointment is part of showing but they have their hopes up anyway.

There were some gorgeous silkies at the show. I say the AOVs but was really admiring someone's splash pullet. I don't know who won so if anyone knows, please post it.

Anne- going to the Sparta show? PM me and we can work out meeting up if we don't manage it before.

With Bren's and Marty's encouragement we are going to re-join the ASBC and will be getting the kids into the ABA youth program. Lots more shows seem to be needed per the children which works as a great bribe tool.

Good morning to all.

I had a house rabbit so many years ago. It was amazing how quickly he learned things. The biggest problem, electrical cords. Young and dumb on my part is my only explanation for what happened. Dog (my little girl named him) chewed a cord and turned vicious afterwards. He attacked everything that came near his cage, food and water was a challenge. But the vet said give him a few weeks he should settle down again and he did.

One time my Sister brought her smallish dog to the house, the dog thought it was a good idea to chase the rabbit. Except the rabbit ended up chasing the dog and the dog got the idea the rabbit was not such an easy push over.

And the bonus? He house broke himself. I'm not sure anyone at the time knew a rabbit could be housebroken, this was 40 yrs ago. I noticed that when I opened his cage after getting in from work he would occasionally jump back in for a minute then back out again.
