I dont know if any of you knew Steve Mcneil, from the local 4-h extension office, and hwlpwd with numerous schools. But he died today.
Steve was a great man, loved horses and helping kids.Ive known him and his family for 3 years... He developed cancer and had a very rough fight with it. And It took his life. Im glad his suffering is over. He is in the lords hands now. Rest in peace.

Donna - love the photo of Santa and the babies - so sweet. It's great that Santa could stop by your house!

Yesterday we got back from having Christmas with my mother and family in Georgia. Their church has a live nativity scene each year - and Thursday night all three of my granddaughters were in it as angels. So sweet!

Then we had our kids and grandkids over to our house last night for our "Christmas". Exhausting but so much fun! Son & daughter-in-law and youngest granddaughter are now in Jackson with her family. Two oldest granddaughters will go to their dad's for a week beginning Christmas afternoon. So now it's just me and hubby relaxing with nothing we have to do (except a couple hours babysitting two oldest granddaughters this morning) for the next three days.

Before we left town on Wednesday, I filled up the feeders and waterers in the chicken house - and then we were gone for 48 hours. I also scattered plenty of scratch in their pens to keep them busy. I didn't really worry about the chickens, but I'd never left them entirely alone for two full days - with no one checking on them. All my usual chicken-sitters were also out of town. The chicken house is secure, though, and I knew they had enough food and water for two days. They did fine - and still had plenty of food and water left when we got home yesterday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. It'll be fun seeing what 2012 brings all us chicken folks! Looking forward to seeing chick pics from the ones who have eggs incubating.

@ Country my eggs are from my own flock. I actually hatched 3 today (2 Silkies and 1 Showgirl ) only one did not make it to lock down. I have lots due to hatch on New Years Day.

Donna I am not sure how anyone does all that cooking, Christmas and kids. No way I could! So be proud of yourself that is A LOT of work. My Sister does it all. She has the kids so we always go to her place for Christmas morning. I just reap the benefits.

Carol glad everyone was safe while you were away. I always worry myself sick when I have to be gone overnight. So much so that it is usually not worth my being gone.

Let the celebrations begin! I already opened Skylanders and have had so much fun with it. I totally recommend this game.

Merry Christmas again I hope Santa is good to you all!

With the traveling and knowing there would be Christmas dinners elsewhere, we just ordered pizza for our family dinner last night - and concentrated on opening gifts and having a good time together. It was nice not having the stress of cooking a big meal.
