4 & 5's but they just started so may(!?..) get darker. My real dark layers get to stay longer for evaluation.

Yeah... I got a girl in with my Blue copper and she is laying a 8 on the top part of the egg it lightens to a 7 at the other end but she is not going anywhere, except the incubator

My D'Uccle laid her first egg! That was a big egg for a little girl! We were very impressed!

They go broody a lot right? If I want to let her try and brood these what should I do? I left the egg. If she does not lay anymore in the next few days I will toss it in the incubator. How long should I give her to try? A week?

My experience with broodies is that either they are or they aren't and nothing you do will really change that. Once SHE decides to go broody you will have a determined little sitter. Until then no matter what you do, she will happily lay that egg and then move on. (The converse is true as well. I have never successfully broken a determined broody. It's easier to just give in.).

If she isn't showing any signs of broodiness you might as well bring the egg in the house.

Agreed...can't make a little hen do anything...she will go broody without a doubt at the worst possible time for you...then I have 2 poor things here that have tried all winter long. They get them started then along comes Mr Freeze and they start over.Even broody breeds don't all go broody..those darn Silkies of mine never went broody once.

So I need to figure out when to have a cookie meet up...we have 40 hours of selling at stores in just a few weeks so my schedule is a bit crazy. What works for you guys out of this mess
2/19 MBoro area after 1:30
2/24 Rivergate Mall I'm selling from 5-7 so meet up before that for just cookies or somewhere close by for a snack
2/26 MBoro area after 1:30
Taking ideas on where to meet up.March is just as bad I may have a few Sundays free but lots of rabbit shows and none in TN

I can come to rivergate to pick up cookies just let me know where.

I kinda knew I couldn't do anything to make her go broody. I will just leave the eggs for a few days and see if I get anymore and if she goes broody.

I just did my full 14 day candling and I only cut 1 more egg. So I have 32 of 43 moving on.
