as a newbie to the chicken world, I am glad to see & know that I am not the only one that feels the need to put a little jungle gym of sorts in my brooder for the little ones.

Yes i love to watch them play around in there it is so cute. I am also a newbie to chickens i got my first rooster from a lady in westmoreland she had him on craigslist saying if no one came and got him he was going to be dinner so i went and got him even though my hubby and i were still in the middle of building the coop so because he didnt have a house to stay in yet i let him stay in our house lol. He is a Blue Wheaten Ameruacana and at this point (besides my bantam boy) he is my smallest Rooster.

Donna......how did you do at Tim and Susie's this past weekend? It looked like it was a much better choice that that awful flea market I went to!
I was at the awful flea market..... everyone was looking for meat birds and mine did not fit that bill. Had to BEG someone to buy them. But I didn't take them home. I needed the pens more than I needed the birds and they are going to be layers and free range... it was all good.

Hey guys.... I am going to order some water nipples does anybody else want some? Shipping would not cost much more so I thought I would see if anyone wanted some. They would be about $1 each. PM me if you want some and how many. I need 50. I will ship them if you are too far way if you pay for shipping.

I am trying to simplify my life and change ALL my pens over to nipples (most are, but my grow out pens don't have them). They are very easy to install. You just drill a hole a little smaller than the nipple and screw them in. I put teflon tape to prevent leaking. You can put them in most any plastic container, milk jugs, coke bottle, pvc pipe, buckets.... anything. I do find the thicker the plastic the better, less dripping. These come apart for cleaning and have a rubber plastic gasket to seal better. These are better than the first ones I bought.

Nipple Info

With 360 degree stainless steel nipple. Red plastic to attract chickens. Heavy duty with removable lower parts for easy cleaning.

Anybody interested in Crested Cream Legbar hatching eggs? All three of m CCL pullets are laying, and I've got a bunch of eggs in the incubator. I got my CCL directly from Greenfire Farms. I don't want to incubate anymore - and this week is crazy - so I don't want to spend time trying to sell eggs on BYC or Craigslist, but it would be a shame for them to go to waste. I think I've got about 10 available right now - will be glad to swap them for a bag of chicken feed. :) PM me if interested.

Update: Eggs are now taken. If you want some later, I'm more than happy to give my fellow Middle TN folks a good deal on them. The ones I have in the incubator should be hatching in a little over a week. They are beautiful birds - and the auto-sexing thing is really nice.

It's here now and I am so nervous because I have eggs pipping as we speak in the incubator. Warnings etc. until 3am. I am beside myself, pacing the floor & nervous that we could lose power

No back up, but you can bet I will have a car converter etc.& a full tank of gas next time I incubate.
