No! We were at the Belle Meade PO. Funny, not sure they deal with many chick shipments around those parts. We live just off of West End. I have always called us the Belle Meade Hillbillies...now we really are with chickens!

welcome Hockey Chick to BYC. I don't know a source for a BO chick, but I have a BO hen that we just love! She has a great personality, and lays well--if you don't find a chick now, you can offer to get him a chick this spring, around February--since you have to raise all those breeds a couple of months to find out if you have too many roosters, and chicks have to have a least one chick for company--you could order in a few chicks to up the hen ratio.

Lori....she's doing better. Spent a good part of the day hiding in the nesting boxes or behind a board in the coop. I was worried she wasn't eating or drinking so we got her out and put her in the baby pen with food and water. She was hungry! None of my other 5 pullets have bothered her or even really noticed her, I think she was just a little homesick for her siblings. Molly is holding her in her lap on the porch right now trying to bond. Will keep you updated on her.......and thanks again!

Cindy,
Glad to hear that she is working out. I really enjoyed meeting you this morning. Really you looked okay to be out in your PJs. HAHAHAHA.
Why can't my pictures ever come out that pretty? She is a pretty girl. Did your girls like her name?
If you decide that you have been bitten by the evil-silkie-got-to-have-more-bug....I have a better show correct pullet that is still looking for a home. She is still a little bitty thing though as she was a late summer hatch.

Hi everyone! I am new to posting on a forum and new to chickens today, too! It is a big day for me:). I just got my shipment of chicks from My Pet Chicken this morning and of all things, my son's pick of a Buff Orpington apparently hopped out of the box before they sealed it up! Would anyone know of where I could get a little BO hen this late in the year...some what close to Nashville? Thanks for any advice, he is coming home in a few hours and I am sad to break the news. He knew it would be the only fluffy yellow chick in the bunch. We got a Plymouth Barred Rock, Black Copper Maran, Easter Egger, and a Black Austrolorpe. Each of my kids picked out a different chick...it will be sad if he doesn't have his own! Our mistake for "counting our chick..." Sorry for any posting etiquette I may have messed up. Thanks!
Hey....and Welcome Hockey Chick! You will learn a lot from this forum....... as for the BO, I got a beautiful one from "Doug" at the Poultry House, who was recommended to me by someone on this forum because at the time no one had BO pullets for sale here. He has his NPIP certification so you can't go there for sanitary reasons but he can tell you what he has and bring them for you to see. They are a USDA licensed hatchery and guarantee their chickens. The one I got was a pullet and several months old but he might have some chicks because they say they have chicks year round. I met his wife and daughter out by Arrington Vineyards at Bonnie's Barnyard, but they are located in Franklin.

I would definitely check on this forum for suggestions for whom to by from .......we care about our chickens and only getting quality stock and we look out for each other!!

Thanks Lori, I enjoyed talking to you too.....
She loved Candy Corn.....and then as girls will do, she decided to change it but after an afternoon of searching hasn't found anything she likes as much....I'll keep you posted on the name game....Honey Boo Boo was suggested but I threatened to take her back before I'd let her do that!!
She's so sweet who knows if that evil bug will bite again or not.
Cindy
P.S. I thought we decided we weren't going to mention the pajama thing.....LOL

Thanks so much for the info! I have left Doug an email, as he mentioned on his message that is the fastest way to get a response. Keeping our fingers crossed for a BO. My son was a huge trooper this afternoon. The sweet fuzziness of all of the others helped ;)

She is a beauty! I need some Whites but cant find any that look good and I can afford. One day it will work out. And yes they are evil :D

Raven-
I have 8 white ones (3 roos and 5 hens- Aimee Crego, Vickie Harry, and my own bred birds). I would be willing to work out a payment plan/trade/something to see them go somewhere they will be appreciated. Especially willing to work with someone that will show them.

Cindy,
Couldn't help myself about the PJ comment. You were kidding about Honey Boo Boo right??!? YUCK, double YUCK. Being named that would require that I go and rescue the poor pullet before she got a complex.
