I got a beautiful little EE pullet from Donna, and my Delaware (BarbaraJean) who doesn't like anyone or anything, has decided that it is her baby. If any of the other chickens get near it, she puffs up and throws a fit! I slowly introduced the EE (Chica) and the first day I let them all loose in the run together she just took her under her wing. They are roosting together on the low roost and everything :)

BarbaraJean was looking at me like "I dare you to put your hand in here." LoL

Welcome to the new folks, sorry for the loss due to possum.
I'm almost embarrassed but this is my " TEMPORARY " coop.

think i'll call it the hoopty coop. My girls have been living in the basement since the tornado, almost 3 months so they'll just be happy to be outside. I still have to build a gate and a nest box. Other than that its pretty much done. Total cost 0.00
I wouldn't be embarrassed at all! Looks pretty good to me, and it'll be heaven for them to get back out in

That is great for free! They are chickens they don't need fancy, we like fancy chickens don't. Mine don't have fancy LOL

Does anyone have pullets for sale in the next few weeks? I'd prefer 6-8 weeks old or so. I'm looking for 3, and I'm flexible on breeds. I cannot have roosters, so I have to be sure on the sex.

One of our hatchery Buff Orpingtons died from being eggbound. :( I actually thought she was getting better, since she seemed to be acting normally, but unfortunately she didn't.

Where are you? I can come up with a few that are just one of a breed. Might be a little over 8 weeks old but not more than 3 months. I can look tomorrow. I have an EE for sure. I also have one that I don't know what she is.... she has some odd lacing that is kinda silver, but she is black... just can't figure out what she is. I am SURE I can find another one. I only have 200-300 chicks.

Okay, I have to vent as I can't do it at home.

Granny had a stroke at Christmas.
Mom had a stroke this month.
Dad has been trying to deal with both of them but can't.
Mom has had a drastic personality shift and has become one of the meanest, most foul mouthed, irritating persons I have ever met.
Grandmother was living with parents but has now moved in with me.
I have been doing everything for my grandmother to give Dad a break, have 2 children at home, 1 graduating and attending college, farm, husband, and full time job.
Personal sickness that I haven't discussed with anyone, job sucks and stress there is thru the roof, and I don't have enough time in the day to do anything enjoyable.
Have a bill to pay that will take every bit of saving and scrimping so that means I can't attend a single chicken show this year, no new books (my second passion), kids are instructed to be extremely careful with shoes and clothes and not to wear the good ones on the farm, etc, etc.
Husband's family has a whole host of issues going on.
Strong winds this week flipped and rolled down the hill, thru the stream, and up into the other pasture, my chicken house with the show silkies in it.
Everyone has had their own personal meltdown moment for them to have a chance to scream and cry, but me. I am the one that has to keep everything on track.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Okay I feel better letting someone know that I am in over my head.

I have some hatchery chicks that I've been growing out. They are living outside now and doing great. All are around 6 weeks old now and they are feathered out finally. There are buff orps, golden wyandottes, silver wyandottes, barred rocks and a few easter eggers. All are pullets. PM me if you are interested.
