Me Silkie Breeder...NO
lol.png
but thanks! Anne has it right I like the funky colors the odd and unusual throw that breed standard away and those are my Silkies..but I won't have those thin fluff hatchery type either so I try to get the breeder color rejects..how I ended up with a half decent BBS flock must have been accidental so I'm trying to come up with ways to mess them up some

Ok my family is here for a week staying at my mothers house since by well thought out plans we built a house for 3 knowing my family is like the Herpes virus once you have them... BUT my kids want to be there all day..and night 6 loud kids 4 cranky adults and me with the overwhelming desire to wash her kids and dress them like girls

Tonight when I got home I went straight to my chicks the sounds of the little peeps and the scratching in the shavings for that missed piece of food, cuddling the bunny and getting the day's low down from the bantam cochin hens. YES I can survive this a few more days as long as I have this to come home to every night.

I know I'm a bit new to be "missing" so soon but some extremely difficult things family wise have come up & I'm at a point that breathing even seems to hurt so please bare with me as I try to figure out things on the home front~ Citygirl I'm so sorry to read all of the awful things you & your babies have been through, sending hugs!

Hang in there Holly and enjoy those little peeps when you can. Sometimes family is as nice to see leave as when they come!lol.

1 Happy Family hope things work out for you. Please come back and visit us when you can. Prayers going your way!

So Holly I have been away for a few days, what new babies do you have? I had some bantam turkns and red cochin bantams hatch out today. And my new Golden Campine pullet layde! I wasn''t expecting it at all. Her comb isn't even bright red. Wonder if that breed has dull colored combs?

Goodness, y'all.......

What is it with family stuff this week? I'm heading off to Alabama for a funeral in the am. Only got one uncle left ....
And I couldn't find anything decent that fit ~
I think I'll start sewing again. Can make things how I need, not what's in style right now.

have my parents down for the week so this freebee i have been waiting to pick up so my dad and i can work on it!!! So excited..

Okla I so agree..however I was banned from family tomorrow-they leave early Friday..the 6 year old punched me so hard it left a bruise I asked her not to do that again..she did I told her what would have happened if she was our child. It didn't go over well-come on I only told her she really needed to be shown
smack.gif

My hatching has slowed down..not sure how that happened other than my pens were getting pretty full.We hatched out some cute bantam Cochin's last week-2 are now living with Jenski's broody hen I have 1 lone bantam cochin due to hatch now and a bator full for later this week...all the Marans are on hold so I hope they all hatch well. Sold around 30 already this week with another 10-15 leaving tomorrow so I will be about sold out of all chicks...that I'm willing to sell that is
big_smile.png
just in time 5 turners are busy with the next chicks
Yesterday I was in TSC buying bunny supplies and there was a pen full of leghorns so today I caved and bought 10 I'm down to around 5 leghorn ladies so was really needing these-straight run though. The poor boy when I told him I wanted all pullets then carefully looked each chick over-I bet he's still wondering what I was looking for
lol.png
Hoping I came home with 8 pullets and 2 roos...another week and I'll know.
The cashier was picking on my chick house telling another one there how these chicks were going to a luxury spa fully climate controlled...had to remind her we haven't installed the air unit yet.Need to finish the siding on one side and paint it first...then the built in brooder's need to be built. It's usable but not finished.

1 newegg that is an awesome find..That will be a great grow up pen for the kids. You can't over build a coop or anything really. The better you do it the longer it lasts and when mother nature comes knocking you will be very glad he took extra time to do it right. The down side is it takes longer in the beginning to get it done-should be married to a contractor wow that really slows progress

believer01 Sending our prayers for you and your family.Have a safe trip

Hi Everyone! I'm new to BYC and live here in Western Middle TN. I have about 15 meat chickens that will be ready to process in a week or 2 and wondering if anyone knows of a processer or butcher that they could recomend. We don't mind driving a lil while. I would do it myself but my one year old makes it harder to find enough time to do all 15 at once and we dont want to draw it out as they cost a pretty penny to feed now...Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

INewegg- that is an AWESOME find! I am jealous!! How many chicks do you plan to add to it?

Brown chicka Brown Cow (can I call you BCBC?
smile.png
)- I have heard rumors that there is a poultry processor on Highway 96 near Triune and Arrington. I don't know for sure. That is one of my summer projects to go find them. Let us know if you find one. All of them that I have found are for deer, cows and pigs.

Holly- did you apply a little corporal punishment to her tush? What a little brat! And what rotten parents for letting her punch you TWICE after being told to lay off. Sheesh! Is it any wonder we all prefer chickens?!

Believer01- safe travels to you. What part of AL are you heading to? I have family all over the state.

Did everybody else make it through the storms okay? I'm about tired of rain now. I'm ready for some dry so I can get plants in the ground! School lets out this week so I am soon to have lots of free time on my hands. It is more than time to clean out some coops!

No CityGirl I didn't....wanted to so badly but I only told her that's what my kids would get.I will take 400 chickens any day to my sister and her "kids" they act better and smell better-they choose if they take a shower or not...the kids not my chickens
roll.png

I have 2 bators chirping tonight but have yet to see the brave first chick or a pip-they had better hurry up I'm impatient.1 bator has a lone bantam egg in there so it will have plenty of room to roam but the other is pretty full.
My French Blue Copper Marans have begun laying so in a few weeks we will have some blue chicks
wee.gif
.Every time I think about turning off a bator I get an e-mail wanting chicks..as long as they keep walking out the door I will keep hatching them.Maybe I need more bator space
gig.gif
I need to sell lots of chicks to pay for that well needed vacation.
