Looks AWESOME !! well thought out build.. will make for some happy chickensHello middle Tn how has everyone been ? Just wanted to share my new coop design it was designed to house about 7 chickens as a breeder coop. 32 square feet overall it will be covered in Hardi Panel and built to last. Hardi panel roof as well it has a 3-12 pitch and all angles are 15 degrees pretty easy build.
This is the right side, that smaller opening will be screened in with hardware cloth and a drop down door for ventilation same thing on the other side. I have tried very hard to incorporate lots of useful features.
This large opening is going to be the clean out access with one big drop down or two swing out doors. There will be another frame here with hardware cloth that will hinge up out of the way I plan on putting a large magnet in the roof that will hold it up while you clean it out. Plenty of room for water buckets and feeders too.
This is the left side, again with another opening and hardware cloth a total of 3 very generous openings for ventilation. The larger opening will hold the nest boxes these will be on the outside so as not to tie up floor space. The nest box will have a hinged lid that lifts up to gather eggs. Another feature will be that the double nest box can easily be removed by just lifting up and pulling out for easy cleaning.
This side will face the run it will have a sliding door on tracks that pulls up and ties off on the backside. The sliding door is 14" wide to accommodate those larger breeds like big fluffy orps
You can see the built in roost bar they can sit in the cross breeze and peek at you out the window.
I agree and if your like me building things like this are very enjoyable alsoThank you blackTNgiants when you get old you have to try and work smarter not harder. I want to keep the chickens enjoyable, yes they are work but with some careful planning the chicken chores can be done quickly. Then I can get back to just watching them run around the yard and poo on everything.
I am in Giles Countyand am looking for young buff laced Polish rooster and a black crested pullet. I am new to all this, but am falling in love with all the feather footed chickens... Have Cochins and Millie Fleurs in brooder now and getting ready to put some eggs in the incubator.
