LOL Becky I know..hopefully I wont go overboard I am just planning on getting a few cuckoo maran eggs BLRW eggs and hopefully a few English Orpington eggs I at least want 2 pullets of each...and that will be about all the hatching for 2013 (maybe

) and then also in February 2013 we are planning on ordering 25 Black Australorp pullets and one Black Australorp Roo from meyer hatchery that way when it comes time that we need new laying hens we can pick the top 5 or so hens and separate them with the roo and hatch our own layer stock...that is the plan anyway...we will see how it goes.

You really need to order more roo...... what if he dies? I always try to have at least 2 bigger ones but with chicks I would get 3-4. Little ones die more than the older ones. 1 roos is not a good idea to base a breeding program on. JMHO

I got an egg today from one of my pullets, sister to one I gave away today (w/ a Roo & Hen) to a neighbor.
So we should all be in eggs again soon it appears!!!

I have been getting several new eggs too. Must be something in the air

I had a new SLW pullet egg today, her sister started back laying too after trying to go broody

My SLW hen is picking back up and I have gotten 2 eggs a DAY about 3 or 4 times. We check the pens everyday so she is laying them after we leave about 5 pm and before we get there about noon. Still 2 eggs in like 12 hours is weird. My silver penciled wyandotte pullet started a few days ago too. VERY EXCITING.
