I told hubby we better get cracking on making more rain barrels... cuz in a few months we will be SOOOOO happy we have 4 times as much as we have now. We left my 8cb ft wheel barrow was left out to clean it.... It was FULL at LUNCH. Rained much more than that after lunch![]()
Well look on the bright side.... If that had been snow we would have what 8 feet of it to shovel![]()
Who here has added acorn feed for their chickens?
Knowing the nutrient benefits, we are looking in this as a winter supplement as acorns are overly abundant on the farm.
We know about the tannins in the acorns and how to purge acorns of it. Also, the acorns must be fully ripe and of the white oak tree type.
Anyone got feedback here?
Quote: Don't have anything to contribute on this one, but it does sound kinda interesting please keep me posted with new info...best of luck
Cracker Barrel will give you their ashes if you ask, at least they did for me. Buy the food grade DE at TSC-but you don't need it if your using the wood ash. I use 1/3 dirt ,1/3 sand, 1/3 wood ash. If you see any mites or fleas ever, rub wood ash all the way to the skin once a week until gone. I have not had the problem yet. I have wood ash lightly sprinkled under my deep litter, and a few pinches under the shavings in the nest boxes.what is DE or untreated wood ash and where do you purchase it
