The article didn't say, just said Maran....Practical Poultry newest issue ( which by the way this month also has a great section on the Wyandotte)....there are some threads on BYC that talks about them, mostly out west, they all love them.

I'm looking for a laying hen or 2. nothing fancy just for extra eggs to help out some friends. I don't want to spend too much maybe $5-$10 each. PM me if you have some I need to pick them up ASAP. Also if any one has a rooster they need to get rid of free or super cheap that I can give to them for freezer camp that would be much appreciated, too.
