I have found that doing a littlw trimming up in the nether regions helps fertility on the silkies quite a bit. Trimming the hair out of their eyes helps too. My roos are a lot randier when they can actually see the girls.

This won't work if you plan on showing them, but it definitely helps with the breeders.

Oooh, I knew about trimming around their vents but didn't think about around their eyes. That may explain some of my fertility issues with certain roos. We tend not to show the roos because they are loud when you have to keep them in a hotel room overnight.

Arg!! Please excuse all my random posting above. Apparently I'm not smart enough to do this with my phone. Arg!!!
Hardin, it doesn't work for all the boys, but I have definitely noticed a difference when I trim up their faces. I have a couple of hens that have learned to dunk their heads in the water bowl so that their feathers clump together and they can see. About this time of year I go through and trim everybody. Makes for happy silkies.
Roosters are never quiet when you want them to be stealthy, are they?

That has to be a scam.... why would he email you to help him.

Pretty sure I have heard about that scam..... don't even reply. He will see this later today and tell you for sure, but I have no doubt it is a scam.

There are a ton of variants of the "help me, I'm stranded" email but without a doubt, it's a scam.

It is definitely a scam. Don't answer! I've been hit with it from a couple of friends before.

BTW I looked at that little white silkie I hatched from you and the toes look really good with a nice little space between those odd little extra toes... still freaks me out seeing the extra toes.

Oh we have EVERY color. I doubt you will get any black hatch though, my roo STILL won't mate with the girls.

It's not even that he can't see, he just won't do it. Thinking of putting him in with my paint roo and letting him watch.
