The Middle Tennessee Thread

this is the roo we bred to the Delawares..

I don't think that is a Crested Cream Legbar...... the leg color is wrong.... well the all over coloring is wrong. Could it be a Golden Cuckoo marans? I can't tell from the pic but does it have feathers on the legs? He is pretty either way. I would guess you would get barred chicks mostly with a delaware.

Yeah i knew he wasnt full blooded if he was legbar.. posted a pic on another thread to see what he was 2 out of 3 said legbar but not full... your right he is very pretty.. no feathers on the legs.. he has one bad eye but he still gets the job done..lol

If I had the stress you have I couldn't handle it :barnie   My stresses are no biggie to what you are dealing with.

Sorry I forgot to answer you.  Ok cuckoos have spots on their heads.  Either could be cuckoo I have blue cuckoos too.   No spots would be copper marans. If you can get me a closer picture I can help more.
I don't see a spot on the blue/gray ones head. It took almost 26 hrs to hatch after pipping so not quite as fluffy as its sibling. The black has a definite spot tho :) here's some pics.

the darker chick is just a touch bigger.

forgot the head shot of the lighter chick.

My biggest stress right now is not knowing how to help my daughter feel any better. We're starting some basic mitochondrial/metabolic testing. Our house is still partially demo'd cuz insurance is fighting our claim :/ but the chickens are our stress relievers. We got them moved up to the new coop this week. Couldn't work on flooded house cuz of ins, so got their coop done. Few tweaks to make, but they like it :)

I forgot to tell you.. the dog got another guinea today. My sons girlfriend is a LIAR! She said the dog never got off the lead today. I heard her calling the dog back home after I found the feathers all over. She let that dog off on PURPOSE! I know she did. I am going to make them pay for the guinea if I have to take them to court. ALL I HAVE EVER ASKED IS THEY KEEP THE DOG FROM RUNNING FREE! If they would just do that I would not lose anymore guinea and it would be over but NOOOOOOOOO!

My son texted my hubby to come talk and hubby gave him the analogy of if we had a dog that attached his dog he would expect us to pay the bills for the vet..he agreed he would expect that. I don't expect anymore than that. Just fix the problem.... the dogs! He did give one away, but the other one is the biggest killer she needs to go.
So sorry Donna. They should keep them from running free, your son should know how much they mean to you as well as how much this is costing you....hope you get it settled and soon!

Quote: I told him I was going to take him to court if he didn't pay me $160 for the birds ( I am sure some of the colors would be more expensive, like the lavenders, coral blues and Royal Purple) We will see how that plays out. He needs to take some responsibility for this.

I am getting some BLACK PLYMOUTH ROCKS

all. I have been following but not posting much lately. Sorry to hear about everyone's troubles. Congrats to everyone with new chicken babies!

DMRippy- I believe I would have to take "care" of the dog. I have always lived in the country & we put down animals that are killing our livestock. The owner's may get one warning but not always.

Now that I hatched some chicks off my Orps I have an Orp that has gone broody

I was going to change out cockerels & then try for a splash but she has beat me to it. Its her first time & I have not trimmed butts so I am not expecting much. I don't want to discourage her so she gets to try and I will put some EE & OE eggs in so she will at least get a couple of chicks.

Here's one of the cockerels that hatched on Easter. I really like his structure and am anxious to see him grow out. Pics are about a week or so old and not the best quality.

And I have some really nice buffs coming up. They were hatched March 19th by Don Chandler and are Farthing/Clevenger cross. This is a few of the 10 that I have.
