The Middle Tennessee Thread

this is our fatty named Dumplin' We were told she is a leghorn. After some questions, many said that leghorns are not fat birds so what do you think she is? Sorry for one pic at a time but I have tried to upload these pics for two days and it will not let me post more than one pic per post. Her legs are straight...don't look like it in this pic but she was turning to waddle away from me when I made the pic

my babies have started laying! Not sure which of the 7 it is yet but this was 2 days of eggs. (I posted a pic of the one I think is a roo and the one that I think is too fat to get to the next box so I am not going to consider them as the layers yet)

I'm still learning, but that's a roo (I'm pretty sure.) Based on all the more knowledgable entries on this thread, the indicators are that he is standing upright and his tail is carried up.

Now - I know I was supposed to call the rooster man, but I still haven't. Isn't anyone interested in Buff Bantam Brahmas? I have 8 roos and 8 hens - I'm willing now to part with hens if someone will take some. They really are gorgeous and all I'm looking for is just a nice flock, but I ended up with too many roos. They're currently 12 weeks and I'm about 20 miles east of Cookeville. I'll meet someone who is interested - let me know.

that's why I am more sure he is a roo now than before. We cant have roos here in the neighborhood but I will keep him until he crows...just to be sure! lol He is a beautiful bird. I just uploaded pics of all my chickens if anyone would like to see them. You can see more pics of him and my fatty Dumplin' I would love to have more chickens but we have nine in a subdivision with 1/3 acre lot so I think that is about all I need at this time. as we have to get rid of some, I may get more but for now I must pass on the offer.

Hey ya'll

We just got the great news that we close on our house next week and at the top of the list of what we want is CHICKENS :D

So to my middle TN peeps.......where can I get a decent coop at a decent price? Is it cheaper to build one? Where are the best breeders for chicks? We're in Mcminnville bw

It's cheaper to build your own coop. For chicks, it depends what you are looking for. Something pretty, something that lays eggs every day, something you can show etc etc etc
