HEy! Some of you need to dial the violence back a titch!

As a cat owner, I have got to say, the line of conversation is very upsetting here!

Have you- Oramman87 -original post re: cat issues- tried _talking_ to the cat's owner?!? WHEN A NEIGHBOR'S LOOSE DOG CAME IN MY YARD AND MAULED MY BIRDS, THAT'S WHAT I DID!

You say you've "tried everything" but made no mention of actually discussing the problem with the owner of the cat! I 'get it' that some of y'all enjoy shooting things, but we are talking about killing a neighbor's pet here! Take some responsibility and improve your coop security AND TALK TO THE NEIGHBORS! I bet you'd be a little upset if they killed one of your dogs, huh? Better hope those pitties never get loose.

I'm sorry my response was so callous. I live in the country, my neighbors don't own cats. I do have one, he stays in my yard for the most part. He also has a collar with tags. I will not harm a cat or dog that has tags unless it actually kills one of my birds. When I moved here 3 years ago the neighborhood was over run with " feral " cats. Barn cats etc.. I spoke to some neighbors who have lived here for 20+ years, they said the population had increased drastically in the last 5 years. I don't kill just for pleasure, the cats I trapped were NEVER going to be anyone's pet. They had a extreme hatred for people. Not fear , hatred. They would have been put down if I have took them to the pound. Essentially I saved taxpayer dollars by doing it myself. I respect your opinion I simply disagree. Sorry

Well, this is a bit of an angry/violent response as well. Maybe we all should step back and disassociate feelings from the issue. It seems tempers are a bit high.

I am not mad with the response I get momma bear about my dogs. First and foremost I said I don't wanna kill it if I don't have to. Second my coops are secure I think it is just sticking its little cat paw through and trying its best. Third as being a responsible pit bull owner I understand the breed I have taken the time to properly socialize my dogs along with proper training and my home owners insurance is through the roof.. I was simply asking for advice not a online chew out. But thank you for your advice if I do see my neighbors I will ask if it is there cat. Till then it's my nephews air soft BB gun that shoots plastic bbs and me looking like a fool running to my coops and runs:)

Sorry, have been offline for a few days! I think I have a few buff (or partridge) and black approx. 4 week old silkie chicks and some younger black, white, and splash silkie chicks.
We have a BUNCH of turkey poults right now if anyone is interested. Ranging from newly hatched up to about 5 months of age. $10-$20. Turkeys are way cool! We have Royal Palm, Sweetgrass, Blue Slate, Black, Bronze, Mottle black, Red and Bourbon Red.
