Its always something with these chickens lol. I now have 1 that has some kind of sore in between 2 'toes'. Its all swollen and red like something bit it??

Great! Now what? I ain't cutting on no chicken unless its cooked lol. I am the most squeamish person you will ever meet. I won't even touch raw meat of any kind or handle blood when the kids get hurt. I'm terrible...

It's not bumblefoot. Bumblefoot is a swelling of the pad on the sole of the foot. Probably just stobbed or cut her foot.

It may be a yellow jacket sting. They are foraging voraciously in preparation for winter hibernation and are attracted to some of the same foodstuffs that a chicken is. I don't know how Benydryl works in birds so I would hesitate giving it the syrup but some Benydryl cream shouldn't hurt to rub on the red spot. If it responds then you can be pretty sure it was an insect bite or sting of some sort.

I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know if I'lbe back again... Actually I am heading to N.C. in the morning & I do know that I'll be back. My youngest son is deploying again. Just to keep it chicken related, my oldest son is taking care of the chickens while I'm gone. Somebody call to remind him to collect eggs

just kidding. He's pretty good at it. My youngest is going on his 3rd deployment. Don't let anyone tell you the war is over, far from it. Not happy about it but its what he signed up for. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks

Tell him this vet passes on the advice my recruiting sergeant gave me: Make sure you use the Army and don't let the Army use you.

And my own distillation of truth as a former Psyops specialist: That and try not to hate the people you have to shoot. Most people in this world just want enough food, water, shelter, safety and some entertainment. It is only a few that are heartless psychopaths. Unfortunately those who are functional psychopaths make good politicians. They manipulate the populaces by telling them someone is threatening their food, water, shelter, safety or entertainment. Threatening our way of life is one of the buzz terms for this. You knowing that won't keep the other guys who believes the Truth/Lie from shooting at you and you from having to return fire and kill them. But not hating them will save your soul and sanity.

my white leghorn roo attacked me for the last time. he got me good too. he kicked me full on my hand and nailed my little finger knuckle I already am losing movement. I thought he broke my hand.


He is" Winner winner chicken dinner" when the roo guy comes Saturday to get him. I needed the pen anyway. I need to use that exchequer roo and put him with some of my pullets. I need to get that breed going again. soon I will put my BULE exchequer roo with my blacks. fun fun. I need to move my barred rocks out of my Isabelle Marans pen.
