TShelton only 2 are molting, the rest are only 7 months old
The young ones _might_ wait to start laying until longer days, like even Feb/March (I had that happen w/ some pullets last year when the fall weather was very overcast, they just waited until spring, it was a terrible disappointment as I had no eggs all winter).

On the other hand, I had a pullet start laying for the first time 3 days ago, & she was penned w/ a hatchmate who started laying almost 8 wks ago, both mutt EEs from the same dad, eating the same , etc. so there just is variation bird to bird too.

Do all the normal stuff like make sure they have oyster shell or some other source of calcium etc. but some birds are just more light or cold sensitive than others. My own hens & spring laying pullets molted in Aug/Sept and were actually laying again beautifully in Oct then when the first bad cold snap (3 nights 25degrees F ) hit they all stopped and have not restarted :( whereas I have the newest layer who had just started and continued through the cold snap & like I said above just this week in this cold weather her hatchmate&penmate is has now laid 4 days in a row w/ her laying also. So sometimes it is age, timing, light etc, and sometimes I personally think it is just the bird, some lay better in fall/winter than others...

ABA National Show in Knoxville TN Dec 6-7

I'm wondering if anyone from near me (16 miles from Fall Creek Falls State Park) is going?

I'm trying to find transport for 1-2 birds appox 15 wks at that time (LF) which would need picked up at the show (would have been paid for already) & then brought closer towards me where I could meet someone to get them...

If this works for anyone's schedule please pm me as I'd like to work out details...

Giving this one more crack before Craigslist. Anyone want a free 6 month old silver laced frizzled polish roo? He was vaccinated for Marek's. He would do fine with larger chickens, but is too much for our silkies and the younger chickens. Hormones have kicked into high gear. In the Murfreesboro area. PM me if interested.
