thanx again!!

That was my biggest order EVER! That was after my credit for the nipples LOL. I still had feed at the farm. Might could have gone another week but I don't like to RUN out. Chickens don't like that either LOL. They keep me hoping!

I do still have 2 Blue Copper Hens available. With what you got I can now move them into one pen. So soon I will have 3 pens EMPTY and I can start moving birds that are laying. I found a blue Barred Rock laying today. I know my SPPR are laying too, probably the Partridge too. I found 2 blue eggs from the Ameraucanas. I still need more pens..... I have so many pairs and trios but just can't find anyplace to house them right now.

Hubby may want to get some quail.

Not now but soon. I have heard really good things about them. We will see. If we do I need a new incubator.... LOL

It was good to meet everyone today!

Is anyone else HOMESCHOOLING? Should we start a thread for that? So many chicken people home school just thought it would be nice to have a place to talk.... toss ideas out and maybe sell, trade curricula for eggs maybe LOL just at thought!

Here is that link I promised you @Wasson6Pack

I'm a part time homeschooler. We do every other year until middle school. I love it and the 3 out of the 4 that are school aged have loved it, so far. We are in the middle of an at home year. So fun! We get all of our school done by lunch, then it's playing with chickens and learning to do useful things around the house the rest of the day. We have built a coop, playhouse, tree house, learned to knit, how to do laundry, etc…during the years we are home. I feel more stressed the years they are in school, and they are, too! I truly enjoy having them at the beginning of the day when they are fresh and happy. When the witching hours come in the afternoon…then it's time to shove them out the door to play with the neighbors! Mine have been attending an enrichment class once a week this time around. It has been good to have a day to run errands with just the baby. I feel like I'm on vacation with just one child ;)
Confession, I bought some eggs off Ebay. I didn't imagine I'd win the auction, but I did. One of those late night impulse buys!!! It's not looking good. I think they are all duds! Out of 14, 5 were crushed by my obviously klutzy maran. I only see the hint of veins on #5. I thought #8 was our winner, but she's the same size at day 14 as day 10, and looks like a blood ring. The rest are very dark (possibly scrambled?) or look clear as a bell. I've moved all the clear ones to the broody maran in the big coop, and kept the dark and promising ones together under the broody orp in the little coop by herself. Cross your fingers…but it has been an awesome science experiment to go along with our homeschool unit on the bird species!

Why do you do it every other year? Don't the schools come looking for you when they don't show up the next year?

Good luck with the eggs.... maybe you will get some..... if not I have chicks LOL

We raised Bobwhite quail for the conservation group in Alabama for a long time. They are hilarious to try to move pens when you have a couple hundred of them :/ I always got stuck with that task. We had several rows of runs for them, and they were constantly flying themselves into the wall. I had a few California pairs that I raised for show, but the neighbors dog took care of that :/ I love quail babies tho, so adorable!

This was my first year homeschooling my 4th grade daughter. My son is in high school and still goes to public school. It is definitely the best fit for her. I couldn't take one more phone call from the school she was in before. It was one thing after another and driving me nuts!

They are really making it hard to send kids to school now days. So many things just defy logic.

I am really in need of a good thermometer/hygrometer with high/low memory. They all look alike online. I squashed my cheap one that came with my incubator.

So glad to meet Donna today! Can not wait for the eggs to hatch!

I picked mine up at walmart but it might not fit in your bator. They have them for reptiles too.

I use one similar to this in the incubator.

This is the one I use in my hatcher.

Hi, I homeschooled my girls in elementary and the beginning of Jr. High. I can coach/teach english and math even to those with learning disabilities. I am also an artist and can teach basics in art. I miss it.
