Very cool, you will enjoy them all.

Speaking of Marans, a couple days ago I hatched out 1 BCM & 1 IM , both had on hatching visible bumps on their combs ie tiny points already, so that means roos, right? (pls tell me girl marans can hatch that way too...)

Quote: What is an IM? yes girls have point at hatch too.

Did you get Isabelle Marans from PapaBrooder? LOL you got Marans and Isabelles and we both have the same birds. I have shipped him over 75 marans eggs and he got his IM from the same place I did....... that was a long trip for your eggs.

What color was your IM? Lavender? if not it could be a split for lavender or just a reg Copper Marans.

oooh GOOD maybe one or both will be pullets !!

Yes kinda small world silly, but my cousin has been treating me to hatching eggs b/c he enjoys the "chicken drama" as a distraction while he is finishing up his PhD dissertation, so win-win for me ;>

The IM is definitely not Lavender, I'm not sure which came from which egg as the 2nd hatched overnight and they both have dark grey main color w/ lighter tummy colors (yes not technical , haven not had enough coffee & too much new puppies lack of sleep). They also both have some outter toe feathering too. need to take pics today...

Anyway, it would be really nice if one or both were girls as the eggs they came from were really really dark, but then again I could put a roo like that over some of my mutt EE green layers and likely get some nice shades of olive, but overall I'd be happier w/ a couple girls who lay eggs that dark just to round out my basket. I have 1 laying a light choc. this spring, and 2 laying olive, mint greens, sky blues, pinks & brown, so just lack white & really dark choc. to have all the colors in my eating egg flock!

Ok, so I haven't been on here in quite some time. I have been busy with kids and babysitting, and of course chickens :) I put 12 of my own eggs in an incubator for the 1st time ever, just to see if I could hatch any. We are at day 9 now and so far 11 of the 12 are viable!! I am so excited!! I used 4 of my white leghorn eggs, 3 of my olive eggers eggs, 1 of my welsummer eggs, and 4 of my red sex link eggs. One of the olive egger ones didn't make it :( It developed ever so slightly and then just stopped. At candling it didn't look the same as the others and I couldn't see any veins. My roo is Ameraucana so this should be interesting. Can't wait to see what I get (colors, girls/boys, and color of eggs the girls will lay). Did I mention that I had also already purchased 14 baby chicks prior to incubating my own ....and that my son is waiting on 13 more chicks from 4H??? We will be over run with chickens soon :)

Not sure where to put this, so I'll just say go look at the buy section under hatching eggs. I have some good looking Australorp hatching eggs. My hatch rate was close to 90%. I'm offering them pick up only and bargain basement price. Not NPIP certified yet. I'm in Lawrence County (Loretto).

I have a question for everyone. I have decided to try my hand at incubating eggs. I have my incubator up and running with some eggs from my laying hens (all EE). They are due to hatch on Sunday (yay). I set 30 eggs, definitely 1 has a chick moving around in it, I am pretty sure about 16 have nothing in them and the rest are blue and green and I cannot see in them, so hoping for a surprise. So was wondering if anyone has any cheap eggs for sale around here. I am going to join in on the Easter hatch along and want to possibly set something else along with some more of my eggs. Trying to decide if the reason they did no hatch was because my girls are new to laying, if it was the way I was incubating, storing the eggs or what. I want to try another test hatch before I buy any expensive eggs. Thanks.
