I just got the go ahead and the building help of my DH for 3! more coops!!
The coops are going into a 40x8 area divided into 3 each with a run out from that 45 ft long! Got my purebred pullets and cockerels ready to order! Mini farm here I come...

Gonna try this hatching thing....again. I've got 27 eggs in the incubator. Hatch day is scheduled for April 26th. Lets hope this all goes well this time. I now have a hygrometer and new digital thermometer. I really want some baby chicks. My son got his 4H chicks last week and they are so cute! A lot of them died in shipping, so we are scheduled to receive 5 replacements today for the ones he never got. Its sad that they ship live animals and so many of them die before getting to their destination.

Yeah, I'm not sure I could handle opening a box and finding dead chicks. At least with shipped eggs, the chicks don't suffer, they just don't develop.

Plan on candling tomorrow night to see how many viable ones I have! So excited :) Thanks for the eggs!

I have eggs due for hatching today! 28 went to lockdown. Next batch in the Easter hatch along. I love hatching but don't have room for lots more or can't afford them. Except for some eggs I hope to get from Donna, this may be my last hatch for a few months.

When using cartons, I was told it was better to use foam to reduce the risk of Moisture Absorption at a time hatchlings need a higher degree of moisture than when in the turning stage.

Our eggs are 8 days in the incubator and we made an attempt to candle them. Using a good Candler, we still could not make out the detail because the Brown eggs are dense and hard to see the contents. It is too early to use the water method as they will all sink to the bottom of the container at this point.

Good luck on your progress.

I am going to the lewisburg live stock auction tomorrow any one else going? I really just wanna see what the chickens are going for but I might buy some guineas if the price is right.

Wish I knew about this earlier and I would've gone. I need top look up Dickson too and see how far away that sale is.

Does anyone know how to sign up for 4H here, I'm in Lewisburg.

Thanks @DaddyBird and @cpegram for the advice. As usual, I am being over cautious, but am so happy to get the beautiful, but dusty girls out.

Worked hard this weekend to get the coop finished. Well, started and finished. I'm very blessed to have a very talented father who loves his baby girl a whole lot :)

Before: converted half a shed.

400

After:
400

Just going to add a little paint and vinyl floor and the ladies will be ready for their new home. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to spend a couple days just in the coop.
