The Middle Tennessee Thread

I have 7 buff orpington roosters at this time. Usually don't keep, raise, or sell RIRs at all if you are only wanting those. I just happen to have 2 RIR pullets right now.
ahh okay. I have 7 rir hens and 4 chicks hopefully one ends up a boy. Cause that's really all I need for that pen. If I ever expand I may get buff corps. What color eggs do they lay anyway?

I have birds available constantly. Usually have some that are about to lay. If you ever want something new, PM me because I usually have something.

Question. If my RIR chick dont turn out to have a cockerel in the mix. How much would you charge for one (assuming you have one at the time) keeping my options open at this point.

I have a bunch of cockerels I'm sure. One of my two breeders is my profile pic - his name is Fred. I hatched more than 60 HRIR this season out of two pens. They are standard bred RC though, not hatchery. Wasn't sure which you were looking for?

Anyone from upper east TN with Marans Ameraucana or silkie hatching eggs?
I know someone through facebook that has blue and black FCM eggs. I can ask her if I can forward her number/email to you.

I honestly don't care which. The 4 new ones i got are all hatchery and my 7 hens are not. I just want pure bred pens by next year but I will definitely get ahold of you if mine dont turn up with a little boy.

Hi everyone,
I'm in Knoxville but there isn't a lot going on in the East Tennessee thread so would it be ok if I join you folks? I am in the middle part of the state a lot with work. So far we have 16 chickens about 12 weeks old, and 7 ducks that the grand kids talked us into lol

Wow so many new people! Welcome to the thread! Most of us have eggs or chicks for sale just check our signatures. there is a breeders list but I don't have the link.

Thanks Raven ! I think I have if possible too many animals lol so I'm good atm but thanks I am however looking for guineas at some point next few weeks. My hens are really spitting out the eggs now I'm covered up with em

Most breeders hatch Jan thru Mar.
Most hens who are laying right now are either being used as breeders (and their siblings sold last fall so we didn't have to over winter them), or for layer flocks who are filling the void till summer pullets begin laying. For this reason you may find it difficult to find something already laying - the pullets are all too young. Many of us have pullets for sale, but I know mine will not hit pol (point of lay) until at least the end of June, probably July.
You might get lucky and find someone with hens they are willing to part with, but if you want pullets you will likely have to wait a few months for eggs.
Hope that helps.

I don't mind waiting till July. I just didn't want to wait 6 months before I see an egg
