I've heard of mortgage lifter. Was it from Baker Creek heirloom seeds?

I think my original seed was from either Wintersown or Bakers a few years ago but I've seen seed a lot of places online lately. Plants are harder to find. Wintersown.org used to send 6 tine packages of heirloom seeds for stamped self addressed envelope but they're not doing that anymore I don't think.. They recommend just tossing the seed on the ground in the winter and letting it come up naturally in the spring. More direction on website. I've done it several times and it does work for tomatoes.here in TN.

I've never heard of that strategy. Worth a try!
 
Well my STC-1000 is holding temp. It turns on more than I like so I am boiling some rocks to add some thermal sinks. I will start my eggs today: 15 silver coturnix and 2 Olive Eggers, and 2 Sapphire/Bantam Wyandotte cross. My Twentse , Niederheiner and Orust eggs should be here next Monday. So staggered hatch. I'm officially crazy.

My good friend called last night and told me that she couldn't resist and got me one of those tiny Chinese bubble bators. I reckon that that might work as a back up. This way I can hatch my daughters button quail up in the main house where she can see them. She is in a wheelchair and getting around to the basement is an ordeal. I will try to get a batch of them to go into this for the actual HAL. The chance came up to get this assortment of super rares at a price I could afford so I had to jump on it.

I have heard those Chinese bubble incubators cook eggs. I would for sure get another thermometer to make sure it stays the temperature it is supposed to. Good luck on all your hatching. You have a lot going on!
