Morning peoples! Yeah its cold here to Jan. We had i at six this morning!
I emptyed my inbox. Thanks been meaning to write down all the pertinent info out of there for a while. Finally got it done.
Are you still interested in going tomorrow? Hopefully everyone will have cabin fever and will get out and bring stuff to sell!

I'm still here. I keep meaning to come on after work and post a full update. Sadly, I come in and crash on the sofa by 8:30pm. I guess I'm still on Rome time! Hopefully I can switch back to normal time soon. I'm not getting any work done around here. I have to work all weekend, so I'm hoping to run away from work early today. Perhaps I can get some pictures up for you guys tonight.

Silly me stayed at work until after the snow started Wednesday. I made it great until I got out to the boondocks and then I just sort of inched home. All was well though. The chickies were all in bed and snow free.

All but one of the chickens survived my absence. Hattie, one of my original EEs, died sometime during the two weeks. My housesitter said he came home and she was just dead in the run. I have no idea what happened. She was not showing problems before I left. In fact, her egg production had really picked up. Hattie had never been a great layer and she had almost quit in the last year (she was almost three). Lately I was getting a couple of green eggs a week. So I don't know what happened. It is my first loss out of the original 15 chickens. I'm bummed I wasn't here. My housesitter called the chicken contact number I had left for him and the guy told him to just toss the body back in the wood line. I would like to bury her, but I can't find where he put her.

I am itching to fire up the incubator again, but my girls aren't really laying. I keep hoping it will warm up. To have a hatch come out over spring break I need to set eggs late next week. Fingers crossed that the warmer weather this weekend will kick everyone into gear!

I need to go back and read up on how everyone is doing. I hope you all are well and are surviving the cold okay.

A teaser photo for you. This is in Venice on the Grand Canal late one evening. Venice was my favorite!

Crap! It was so cold here in Pleasant Shade our water pipes froze. It's afternoon and we still have NO water. So I obviously didn't go to work today, just working remotely with this slow internet connection.

My two Wyndottes just chirp away when I open there coop door ... I think they are mad more then anything. They are use to doing their morning walk from the horses feed to the donkey/goats feed. They seem to like to steal everyones food. Then barely eat their own chicken layer feed. I am getting about one egg every two days, because one of them is molting pretty bad. But they aren't fertile eggs so I just eat them.

We are sure looking forward to the warmer weekend. Funny how 40-55 actual seems wonderful to me now, back in FLA that would have been freezing temps.

I hope everyones chickens get through this bitter cold. Citygirl - sorry to hear about hattie passing.
