gosh that will make over 25 of those beautiful chicks growing up but I'm already seeing lots of roosters in that pen.
I just locked down about a dozen bantam Cochins..several Dixie Chicks are dth soon! And yes Dixie did it again...laid about a dozen eggs before going broody again. That little lady lives to raise chicks
Hey Jen...2 of the bantam Am's are laying now the Cadbury Bunny has nothing on those tiny blue eggs

HB, Im already chicken addicted, lol. Ive been dreaming of owning chickens for a few years now. Well, we finally bought our house in the country last summer, so Im finally ready! EXCEPT for the fact that my husband has not built my coop yet! I figured if I waited on him to build it, I would never get my chicks, lol! ANyhow, I hope there are meetups of some sort? That would be great!!

What my husband wants to know is how did our grandma's do it with only one old shed and a handful of corn?
What do I tell him?

I've got a question for you knowledgeable chick lovers! I know I'm going to sound completely stupid but... I've noticed that one of my chicks has poop stuck fairly thick to her bum (she is young think 4 days now) it was so thick it kind of scared me so I gently with a q tip & lots of patience got it off... Does this happen often? Is it a sign somethings wrong? My 7 others have not had this issue & I am thinking I may be over worried~ Thanks for understanding ahead of time that I am a worry wart lol!
