Hmm may not be barred rocks then if they are that age and laying small eggs. If they are hatchery and 2 years old they are past their prime for laying.Heritage birds will lay longer but hatchery are bred for max production and quit...around 18 months is a good time to get some replacements.The red girl you got from me will be a super layer.

Okla-I need to order soon-today or I won't get a ship date this week.I have a ton of chicks now so a ship date now is better than later brooder wise.Either Welp or Ideal it doesn't matter to me which one...just something fun for the kids.

I still have some bantam Cochin hens..black mottled for sale if anyone wants some fluffy sweetness.Also some real pretty roos-Blue Wyandotte,BLRW,EE and OE

I just sold a beautiful barred roo.We only have one barred and she's family thanks to Jenski bringing her over to me

Now here it's the Mille Fleur Cochin's that get most of the love.
I believe there is 2 possibly 3 black mottled I'm going to sell.They are not hatchery stock but also not my higher end show birds and I'm just trying to cut back on how many I have in the pens.$10 each or if you took them all..not more than 3 I know that $8 each There is also one solid black hen out there for sale and 2 young MF roos still in a brooder but feathered

Ok what do you think on the eggs from the BR???

I found a pullet egg in the fridge this morning

This is an Americana egg (a smaller one) The middle is the smaller BR egg and the end is a pullet egg

This is just the BR and Pullet egg

This is a store bought XL egg the larger BR egg and the pullet

The BRs lay just about everyday so I don't really fault them for no eggs yesterday...I just think it is a revolt to the new living conditions

I just don't see any reason to keep them if they are not going to be breed and if the eggs are so small.

Holly I have your BR roo and a couple of Splash Rocks so I like the blues anyway. Can't wait for Blue BRs

Honestly you need to weigh the eggs to know where they are at...some eggs may look smaller but weigh more than you think then some longer eggs look bigger .Once you weigh them you will have a better idea if they are laying a small egg..that doesn't look like a small egg but you can't tell with a picture.Taking a picture of any egg beside a white leghorn's egg will almost always look small..it's what leghorns do every day where a brown layer can lay that size but it's not as often or as many...and an exception to every rule exists
