The Middle Tennessee Thread

I counted my chickens..ok not really I don't have the time but I did count up some chicks and I have 4 possibly 5 BLRW chicks just hatched selling straight run..now once they feather enough so I can tell the pullets for sure I won't be selling them until Spring..if then.

Oh those unmarked cochin eggs I had in the bator..when I checked them this morning...3 chicks were sitting on the turners waiting for me..they are Mille so doesn't look like any more black this hatch but that pile of eggs in the cochin bucket is killing me..anyone need some eggs so I won't stick these in let me know...there is mostly black mottled in there but stuck my 2 solid blue's in there for the summer-very nice birds and a pq buff along with some of those fluffy things.

alright I would love to have your mottled chicks plus the 3 hens....or 2 hens and 1 blue mottled pullet rather. What are you asking for each? Or rather, what is my lionhead doe worth to you? Lol.

Have a question... dose any one know if i have to have a license to sell eggs? I saw a farm fresh license no problem getting one but do i need it if i just sell out of the house? That license cover 500 cases or less that seem a lot and i don't have but a couple dozen a day. That is a state license and i don't think you have other inspections other than the initial one for the license.

Also, dose anyone know if i have to have a permit in davidson county IF i live outside the general services district in an agricultural zoned area??? Read the law but it just dose not apply to 33 acres i don't think. I can't find a state permit is required either. just want to do things on the up and up... if i can.

I could use one of those myself the lack of rain and what was hopefully in the bottle the top came off of

DM-you need a license if you sell more than 30 dozen or something like that. You need a separate place to wash and store the eggs other than your sink and fridge...in other words another sink and fridge which really isn't much of a problem. Now those EE chicks are straight run...all just starting to feather. Most are dark colors but there is a few light..I may have a few in the older chick pen that I can try to get an idea on sex but you know how that can be.
No idea about Davidson...but I'm guessing the sharks want their share they sure do here in Wilson.
Emmalyn-got your message and I will get you a bunch since there is a possibility of some silkie eggs in the mix..never seen them do anything productive lay an egg or brood a bunch yet only eat and stand around looking fluffy but it's always a possibility

I will pm you when I figure out my schedule
Nella-I will hold them for you..lets see I had $10 a hen and $3 a chick on them...the chicks are just hatched so not going to say for sure just how many it will be then...you know how that can go in this heat.I have a cute fully feathered roo that should have super color he's about 6 weeks maybe 8 I can throw in if you want another

There is 3 BLRW chicks if anyone is interested.

Boy,trying to read throug this page I almost suffocated ,so many FLUFFY BUTTS! lol. They are all goregous too! I relly like mottleds but at this time only have a mediocre pair of reds. But their chicks are cute so I guess I'll keep them.
Horrible story from my friends on the Oklahoma thread, one guy came home and found 49 large cochins dead from the heat! That loss would be just about all I could take I believe. They have had heat even more terrible than ours.
