LOL! You think so? It's funny because Pearl/Plato is the largest and most aggressive - and I've thought all along that Lacey/Lucky was a pullet until I looked at the pictures - and I can sure see roo in the photos - but didn't see it in person.

It is what it is - and I guess if I get one pullet out of the bunch, I won't be too sad - but I sure was hoping for two. I hate to think of rehoming three of them - I'll wait a few weeks until there's no doubt. I should get over my fear of roosters and keep at least one of them and breed my own. I've read so many stories of aggressive roosters - they scare me.

I have 13 big roos and none are aggressive. Don't let that bother you.

I am done for the year . . . 2011 is the Year of Minimal Pen Drama here at the Jenski suburban farm. It's lovely, too! *sigh* Everyone (almost) getting along, nice and quiet little muppets, and ol' Jenski sitting on a bench in the sunshine watching the birds and enjoying the PEACE.

Now next year . . . well, who knows.

I am enjoying the updates and chick pics, though! Thanks to everyone for keeping us updated. I enjoy that a lot.

CityGirl, I did The Dance of Joy when I read about your new job. (Luckily no one was here to actually see that, but I will tell you it was certainly joyful. Anyway.) A hearty congratulations to you for turning your time of unwelcome change into a brand new opportunity for growth. What a fine accomplishment! Go go girl power!

During my time of non-employment I have been reorganizing my priorities myself, and I recently spent some time cultivating an opportunity to help a brand new wine shop owner develop her business. We are now having great fun planning wine tastings and developing a marketing plan . . . and plenty of other fun wine explorations. We are doing our first staff tasting tomorrow. I have a formal wine education, and this is one of my great passions - - so it just feels great to be back in the industry doing something I would do for free! This ain't work, folks, it's FUN!! What a lucky gal I am.

I also wanted to send out a THANK YOU to Simply Splendid and our other hard-core breed specialists out there. Congrats, Splendid, on your show winnings - - well done! Folks like you are the reason a backyard hobbyist like myself can acquire and enjoy quality birds. Let's all remember that in reality, there are only a handful of people who are seriously committed to each of the major poultry breeds. Year in and year out, they spend thousands of hours studying breed standards, making breeding plans, hatching, culling, preparing birds for shows and attending shows all over the country, learning from judges and other breeders, and all the other time-consuming tasks involved in maintaining and improving a breed. I feel very lucky to enjoy the fruits of their labor! Thanks very much to all of our specialists.

Well, my coffee cup is empty now. That's all, I guess, LOL! Have a great day, everyone.

Reg white leghorns. do Exchequer lay well? I am looking for some really good layers with the leghorns. If they do I may have to get those from you too and some Marans eggs.

BTW I may have one or two roos sold! There is a lady not far from the farm that had a couple of roos mauled and needs a new one for next spring. She is trying to sell hatching eggs and chicks so she needs an education on Marans. She didn't even know there are other colors in Marans

She got her marans from the same guy I did so she needs one over colored roo to fix the pullets and one to breed for roos that is colored correctly.

If I can get her to take two that would help soooooo much. Tension is so high in that pen. The pullets are getting bigger combs and waddles and getting very very pink.... Nesting boxes need to go up this week!

The Exchequer don't lay as well as the reg. white do but should lay better than Marans. Right now I am just not getting very many eggs from anyone the pullets are young and the others are molting and then add in this crazy weather and I am lucky to get 6 or 8 eggs a day

Good job getting 2 roos rehomed the lady that inquired about mine has not called back
