Thanks Anne! And thank you all for the wonderful welcome!!!!
I've decided to work with Blue Cochins in the Spring. The new girls seem to be doing well. They are in the coop with the rest of the flock and "seem" to have been accepted. I left the coop open yesterday when I brought them out to see if they'd come out and roam. They did a bit, and bee-lined it right back in the coop. I went out to get them to bring them back in the house before the storm, but all the others were in there with them, no fighting, no squawking, a little growling, and even EATING TOGETHER! So all in all, I was rather surprised!
All my Barred Rocks have turned out to be Roos. I am re-homing two of them this week to a friend of mine who has a horse farm and has been wanting roosters. He has 15 or so acres, but a small area for chickens and a small insulated barn for them. I just don't have enough hens for three roosters and they are starting to fight over the girls. Too stressful on my ladies I think so it's in their best interest to send them somewhere else. Sux cause I raised them since they were less than a day old!!! But the three of them are just getting too aggressive with the hens AND each other. So I guess it's time to go.
Looking forward to the next get together. There are several inexpensive placed in Nashville to meet! Athena's comes to mind, which is a 24 hour Greek Place that caters to large crowds. But if anyone wants to meet in the Nashville area, I'm in!
