The Middle Tennessee Thread

We just got back in town - and I've got another broody. Since I broke this one of being broody last summer, I want to let her sit on some eggs this time. Who has some hatching eggs I could get tomorrow for some polish or frizzle or orpington or something unusual? I'll be glad to drive anywhere in the Nashville area tomorrow to get them. ????

I am trying to find "river sand" to finish off our coop but I am having no luck. I have called both of our local quaries and neither carries anything more then course construction sand. I am trying to follow what was posted in the tutorial about sand but I can't find what they are talking about. Anyone in the area have any info? The closer to Clarksville the better. Thanks.

I am busier then imaginable, can you PM any responses to me so they don't get lost in the 20-30 pages that populate between my visits.

Well, my Buff Orp "pullet" crowed today. I have suspected for a while. I actually have two, and both of them are roos. Does anyone need a rooster to guard their flock? They are beautiful roos that are very healthy. I live between Gallatin and Hendersonville.

Oh I remember the day the 3 of my pullets crowed.... I jerked my head toward the chicken yard, asked the kids about it and they were like "Oh yeah, they have been doing that for awhiile.." UGH of course to them "awhile" could mean 2 days..LOL

I have blue and splash ameraucanas and assorted EEs if you want them. I could bring them in to Franklin or Nashville Wednesday or Friday.

Okay all you experienced breeders who read this... I have a question.
Last year I had a barred cohin roo that bred with a barred LF easter egger. I hatched some eggs from them and I'm left with a LF barred feather legged roo. He hatched from a green egg. He is currently "bossing" 2 pure white cochin hens. Is there a possibility I could get more barred cochins from that mix...that lay green eggs?

Thanks for the offers but I don't need any eggs after all.. The broody quit being broody. I still have the first broody, though, that has been sitting on 11 eggs for two weeks now. Hopefully next Tuesday I'll have some little chicks running around - with the broody hen to do all the work of brooding them.
