Congrats, Donna, on the successful CL sales - a on the long-awaited eggs.

I think your eggs go into lockdown tomorrow... really today, but they didn't make it LOL. At last look 4 looked good

Beautiful eggs! That's my kind of egg variety! Just loves all the different colors!

I'd almost forgot about those eggs! The roos will have a white spot on their heads. The pullets will have chipmunk stripes - no white spot. The ones I hatched were unmistakable. I hope you get a better ratio than I id.

I started free ranging my guinea Monday. The moved all of 25 feet away from the coop and returned quite quickly and clung to the fence of their pen like glue.... not worries about getting them back in LOL. Like herding cats a little.... except they can fly, onto the ROOF and HIGH in trees

Finally rounded them up with some help....

So today, I just opened the door and got most of them out and left the door open for the day. They wandered in and out all day and were easier to herd in. Only one try today.

Side note right after we let the guinea out, my son's lab come wandering down to the barn..... didn't even look at them

I knew she was a good dog! My neighbor has guinea and they wander all over so she is kinda used to them, just not at our place.

Question guinea owners: should I herd them OUT of the coop or just open the door and let them do it? They don't seem to want to go out though....... Does it matter? I can train them to leave for a few weeks and maybe after that they will be waiting at the door to get out.

Me too! I hope I get the all pullet hatch and then I will NEED to take a couple of roos off your hands

I have had ALL boy hatches followed by ALL girl hatches.

I sold my Cream Legbar chicks (3 boys, 2 girls). Shipped them off today - my first time shipping chicks. It was quite simple - just keeping my finger crossed that they make it okay. And all my CL eggs are sold into mid-November. I'm going to try hatching some more once I take care of all these orders.
