The Middle Tennessee Thread

Thanks Donna and Country.....I think they are also....they are very sweet....I don't know whether to keep them or sell them now...LOL I think I will hang on to them....and try and find me a roo....like we need more chicken breeds around here...LOL So now I guess I'm looking for a Standard and Bantam size Buff Brahma Roo...LOL

Chicken Queen...that's what I was thinking also...but I have been so busy with the Old English Game Bantams and Ameraucanas (Lavender Project) that II have kind of ignored them...Jerry has been taking care of them....sooooo the other day we dipped everything on the place and when he brought them to me I thought ...hmmm...these are not cockerels...they are pullets....but I thought I would get a second opinion...lol

We are NPIP Certified now....

Donna how do you like the Tucker's Layer? We went to Triune today and got some of the Super Layer Mini Pellets but haven't tried them yet....and some Tucker's Medicated Chick Starter....

I love it! I might have to make a run there next week my self. She has the Starter on the shelf? I need to ORDER the pullet grower I don't think she stocks that. I am not going to get 2200 lbs this time. the was rough on that old truck. I might get 1200 lbs. this time. It has only been a little over a month and I ran out of layer a couple of weeks ago, pullet grower is down to one 55 gal drum and chicks starter is down to 1/3 of a barrel.

I need to sell some chicks and get rid of some roos.

BTW I noticed with the chicks the poop is different. More of it and firmer.... just different. Seems I have to clean them more often.

not going to quit using it because of it

We have Tucker feed here, but I found that I like Faithway a lot more. It is available at most of the feed shops and co-ops around here.
The crumbles actually stay crumbles, unlike the Tucker or Co-op brands, which is pretty much dust by the time I get it home.

We thought about the Faithway feed...but we wanted to try and stay away from the crumbles (because ours also end up as dust and they waste so much of it) LOL Could you post a picture of what the crumbles look like and maybe the ingredients for me? We raise mostly show oeg bantams and they cannot eat the large pellets...that's why we went with Tucker's mini pellets....but the crumbles from Faithway may be a better option for them....I know they have it in Woodbury...

Funny the dust from the OTHER feed is why I switched to Tuckers. The layer is pellets, the starter is a crumble, but not dusty like Edwards feed was..... that was the worst for dust.

I agree Donna...we love Tim at Edwards and there feed smells sooo good and fresh...but there was just way to much waste...and when you are feeding as many as we have it really adds up and gets into your pocket ( I mean the chickens pocket) LOL
