I have two! I’m kinda worried about them around my ducks but I think it’s going to be fine once they get bigger!

For my brooder I had a lid on it with a rectangle cut out of the top and had wire on it so it was protected and almost looked like a sky window. My cat couldn't get in there but she could still see them if she wanted

No, they don't make good pets, they make FABULOUS pets! My IRs weren't skittish. When they're on one side of the yard and I'm on the other, they always came to me! They always let me pet them! I really recommend them.
