The Missing Heir RP

"Blackmoon City is a High Elf capital." Karok began. "It was a key capture point for my people during the war. If we succeeded, we would've decimated your forces." Karok gave a slight frown and rolled to face her. "All the omens were in place, we were sure to win. One of our best assets was an Elvin turncoat by the name of Lyren. To your kind he is Lyren the Cunning. Lyrens actions in the battle of Blackmoon earned him that name. It was the plan from the beginning, to set us up...my legion was crushed." Karok trailed off as his memories came to him in a flood.

Lena listened, feeling slightly sympathetic towards the betrayed warrior, but exaggerated that emotion so it showed on her face. "I have heard of Lyren, my kind speak of him as a heroic, and brave... And even though he helped swing the tide of the war, his actions were dishonorable, and that always was unsettling to me..." She said, then looked away, acting as if just the thought upset her.

The tone of Lenas voice softened Karok. He couldn't help but, feel guilty for being so cold. "I apologize for my behavior when we first met...it is difficult to let go of the past. I should not have passed judgment so quickly." He said sighing. With a small smile he glanced to Lena. "You should get sleep." With that, Karok played upon his stomach and tried to fall into slumber.

"I understand thy distrust of the elves. I should not have been so rude, believing a rumor with nay a fact in it, and then speaking of it as if I had seen it happen with my own eyes..." Lena replied, then moved over to Malcom, and touched his shoulder gently to wake him, "Malcom...".

Aeron jerked awake, and was confused for a moment as to why it was still dark, then remembered it was his turn to take watch, "I'm awake," he yawned, then sat up as Lena moved away. Lena fell asleep within a minute or so, and Aeron kept his bow close, looking out into the forest.

The night gave way to dawn as the rays of sunlight leaked through the canopy. The birdsong woke Agatha and she rubbed the sleep from her face. The old woman gathered her belongings and packed them away on her mule. She couldn't help but notice the bite of cold air blowing in. Winter was rearing it's ugly head. Agatha shivered slightly before moving to Karok. Giving him a sharp kick, she smiled slyly. "Get up he old coot!".

Karok only grumbled and swatted at her. "D*** you and morning." He mumbled while slowly getting up.

Aeron smiled and and laughed slightly as Agatha kicked Karok, he was wide awake, and had already saddled his horse. He sat on the ground, admiring his newly reclaimed sword in the low morning light. "Wilt ye all be ready to head out soon?" Aeron asked.

Lena was slowly waking up, "Yea, I shall be ready to leave soon..." She said groggily, standing up slowly.

Kira woke and yawned, stretching before she stood up. She glanced around the group, studying Lena longer then shrugged and got up to go saddle her horse. She would find out more from quiet than talking she decided. Once her horse was tacked up she moved to sit near Aaron and smiled at him "Good morrow."

Lena walked to her mare, getting it ready for the long ride ahead of them.

Aeron smiled back at Kira, "Good morrow," he looked around to make sure Lena was not close enough to hear, though Karok was, but he didn't mind, "this sword belonged to Desdemona, on his death bed, he passed it down to me."

He then relieved that he should explain how he came to know the legendary killer, "I saved his life, long before; I was twelve years old, and he came through the town I was in, payed to assassinate the Earl that lived there. The Earls gourds came for him, he was already fighting four, and I was hidden behind a vender's kart when tree more came for him from behind... I raised my bow, and shot the them, then two of the others as he took down the others. He took me in, taught me how to fight, not just use a bow, and I helped him with his, um, work." Aeron gave a apologetic half smile, that had been the first time he had killed another person, and he doubted that even Karok would have guessed that he had ever killed at all.
