[Painted Calls]

Any of you guys know what all contributes to extra toes? I have some silkies that got funky ones and I want to know if it's health related or just bad breed ing (hatchery birds so who knowS)

Maybe @The Moonshiner can weigh in on this. I have no idea.

Cool. I'll post the pics real quick. It's possible that a Cochin male got lose or something because out if 4 for one color, 3 have something wrong. One just doesn't have extra toes or a crest though so that one isn't as worrying

This one has one toe with 2 fused nails on one foot and a normal 2 toes on the other foot

And this one has a tiny shriveled extra toe and a giant extra toe with a toenail also coming oflut the side of the toe. It's other foot is also normal. It's also more sideways than just sticking out like a normal back toe. It like flattened to stay pointing the same direction as the front toes

Yeah. Haven't even bothered to look at the other color group I got in that order yet. They seem to be healthy otherwise but I'm concerned that breeding will only make it worse and that it isn't some one off thing

Having a couple 11 toe cousins has made that a subject I figured the less I know the better.

Like, they're pretty neat as pets, but I had wanted a mixed silkie trio to breed. Oh well. I'm sure I can find people that want silkie pets, especially if they end up girls
