We live in a Hollow with steep hills on either side. My parents are across the lane and down the road a bit from us.

View from our living room windows. The structures are mobile chicken pens and such.

View from maybe 50-75 feet in elevation up the hill behind our house (our property has a 300ft elevation change). DH, the boys and I live in the double wide, my In-laws live in the single. I think the day I took this picture I had climbed up the hill so I could make a phone call because our power was out. We don't get good enough reception in the hollow to make calls.

This is the view from a trail on our property maybe 100ft in elevation up the hill. This is my parents' houses across the lane from us. The buildings you see are the old farm house in front which is mostly used for storage now and my parents' new house and pole barn garage behind. We were up on that trail because we were cutting down autumn olive. I hate that stuff. It's everywhere.

"The way her hair moved with the breeze, and shone in the sun, reminded me of a field of wheat swaying in the wind. Golden. Mesmerizing. Beautiful."

Did I do good?
Yup!
And why are they always violet eyes? Unless they're sapphire or emerald...
I know! Seriously! No one actually looks like that.

You want to be short and weak when you grow up, young man? Then you better not be eating any of those vegetables!

Before and after scientists discovered vitamins. They used to not be able to raise chickens in winter because of “rickets.” One eye was a frequent occurrence. Then they found out Vitamin D existed. They found many vitamins, and the fact that chickens really need animal protein.
I can’t imagine how many chickens never reached their full potential and size because they were severely malnourished.

This is such a beautiful country.

That cockerel is stunning.
Ya I think he has some potential and I also have a nice back up.
Too bad I'm a color breeder which = no sense about breeding anything of quality or towards a standard. 😞
I should get my sh!t together and go get some breeder birds.
If I could get something with some quality I could be dangerous.

🙄

He's absolutely beautiful.
I'd drop Orpingtons in a heartbeat if you started selling & weren't so far away. Sorry, Orpingtons.

It's your birds that have made me like Leghorns as much as I do.
