Three of my birds were lost to drowning/hypothermia. Two were young and promising d’Anvers who roosted in the rafters and fell in the very huge buckets that were used to catch water (the shed had a very leaky roof until it was fixed.)
Then there was a Silkie hen from the roost in the coop. We have a hanging bucket that is usually covered as a nipple waterer. It was usually covered with the lid. That time it wasn’t. To be fair though, it was a Silkie. The other chickens could have flown out of that situation.
