Had the day off and it made it to mid to upper 50s so tried to get some stuff done today. Made a chick feed run and got 20 bags so way more then I had freezer space for since I already got all that layer feed during that sale. Once upon a time before I started getting freezers I used coolers. Still have quite a few including to good sized ones that hold about 125 to 150 lbs. Once I fed all the juveniles I filled one freezer and 4 coolers.

Had to run a couple errands in town and passed a garage sale where I saw some chicken wire laying out. Of course I turned around and went back. No other chicken stuff and there was a few rolls of beat up 2" stuff I wasn't interested in but I scored a 1" 48" x 25' roll still in plastic and looking like new for $5. Ya I didn't need it necessarily but

What I might of scored that may come in handy was a pile of plexiglass in broke up frames. Wood didn't look too old but I think it was pretty flimsy to start with and then they busted it up disassembling it. 3- 4' x 8' pcs and 2- 4' x 4' pieces. They looked dirty but in good shape. Looks like they may still have the film on it. Idk that's now dusty they were. As I was looking at it the lady said it was a homemade greenhouse at one time. Guess I didn't look that impressed because she said I could just have it if I wanted to drag it off. If it's brittle I'm thinking reframe it and use it on the two ends of that pen. I have a sheet of tin across the bottom and wood at top since the roof is sloped. It's 8' deep and 4' may fill the space if not ill add a bit extra wood to the top. That should keep wind, rain and snow out but won't stop sunlight. That might be ideal

Thought I had all my waterers, bowls etc. that aren't in use done washed but found two more rubber bowls. Apparently I sometimes use them to carry screws, staples etc. then leave them setting somewhere random. Also note to self... watch marketplace for industrial dishwashers. I'm tired of washing stuff.
Brooders not in use almost done. Got one wooden one left to do and 2 of the tubs almost done. Gonna give them one more quick scrub then flip them over on their stand for the winter.
Worked on the other pen today. Couple more repairs and it'll be ready besides I decided to shovel it out. Has a lot of loss dirt as the floor. When I had breeders in it it was so bad they were kicking dirt into feed and water bowls. I didn't realize till I got going that it's about 8" of loose dirt before I hit anything solid. Ever get a bright idea of doing something then figure out it's a lot like work? Ya. But ya I got quite a bit accomplished today. About 6 or 7 solid hours of chickening stuff.
