The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Well I think I'm done setting eggs in the big incubator for the year.
So disappointing, it's still August.
I'll continue on with the various small incubators but thinking of even scaling back to setting every 10 days or so instead of every week.
My chicken auction place is killing me. They canceled their July auction and then the one for August. And now they've canceled the one for September and also their Labor Day weekend big auction where I get poultry paraphernalia and building materials.
Had to build another grow out pen and close to finishing a second one.
Gonna have to start stacking birds before long. Running out of room.
There's no joy in Mudville

So got more eggs set now?
I know you said it was like a test run so when and what's next?
Yep test run done..... fertility was great.
24/27 fertile
Last few are still hatching.

Yep got 2 more batches in the bators now.

Now to collect enough eggs to keep them full

I'm a little worried about the last week or twos eggs here. Production was down a little but I never don't have enough eggs. But ya it's been around 100° and real feel as high as 118°. Not sure how that's gonna affect their viability. Can't be good on them.

The bright side is you did break 1,000 chicks again. This heat has been crazy bad and I’m sure it has some effects on viability. I can’t imagine raising chicks in this heat. My hens have slowed way down laying too.
